Calendar Systems
All calendar systems which will be referenced in this game ultimately originate from the Imperial calendar. Its reach has expanded so far that even Tono and the various independent city-states spread throughout the world use it - every advanced civilization within the known world uses either the Imperial calendar or some variant of it.
The two most important pieces of information are what AP and AL mean. AP means Anno Pacis, and marks the number of years which have passed since the unification of the five cities of Edheren. AL means Anno Licentia, and marks the number of years which have passed since declaration of independence from the Empire.
This story starts in the year 5416 AP, or 783 AL.
The year itself has 340 days, divided into 10 months of 34 days following the lunar cycle of the moon with the longest period. The months themselves are named as such:
- Primis
- Secundis
- Tertius
- Quartember
- Quintilus
- Sextilus
- September
- October
- November
- December
Each month is divided into an uneven number of weeks, each week having 8 days: Bawolday, Tonoday, Edheresday, Etasday, Kabesday, Hayday, Tamayday, Fahsday.
The first of Primis falls on the Spring Equinox in the southern hemisphere every year, or the Fall Equinox in the northern areas, such as the Northern Free Kingdoms.
