Caleb is not Victoria's first creation

I continue to chase after her until we arrive at a large street.

Compared to the impoverished area, this place is much cleaner and better organised.

Victoria gasps. "We should be safe here in public. They shouldn't come after us now."

"Victoria, are you all right?" I ask.

"No, I'm just a little outta shape. I'm an academic, so I'm not used to heavy physical exertion." Victoria catches her breath and looks at me. "Anyway. I'm glad no one got hurt, and we managed to get away."

I nod in agreement. "Thank you for saving me. Twice."

"There's no need to thank me. I acted of my own accord." Victoria smiles a little.

"I read the poster. It said you were behind the creation of a homunculus."

"It's true. You were not the first homunculus I created. There was another. Evelyn. I don't know if she actually killed all those people or not, but if she did, I am partly responsible for it."

"It's wrong not to trust someone who has risked her own safety to save me not once, but twice. If Evelyn has killed people, it's on her."

"Thank you. But I abandoned her in fear. It was a moment of weakness I have regretted ever since."

"I'm the one who should be thanking you." I give her a short introduction of my reasons for being in London.

"It's true. There have been numerous homunculus' before but you and Evelyn are the only ones that can breed." Victoria appears to think something over, then looks right at me. "Caleb, I have a suggestion. I'd like you to let me hide out at Lupin's mansion, if possible." She gives me a plaintive look.

I think for a while before I speak. "It's not my home, so it isn't my place to decide anything like that. I'll ask Lupin. I think she'll say yes. Because she's a hero."

"This woman. You really do trust her."

I take a paper from my pocket.

Victoria asks what it is, and I tell her that it's a map.

"Lupin gave me this so I could find my way there in case we were separated."

"What is it, Caleb?"

"I don't know where we are now, though."
