Caged Animals...

A COUPLE HOURS LATER:

John groans in pain as he wakes up from his previously knocked out state, he slowly opens his eyes and when he opens them both up, that's when he sees where he currently is,

A cage.

He slowly sits up from his laying position and holds his hurting face with his bound hands, seething in pain but as he leans back against the cage wall, he hears Kyuala's voice from his right.

"How can you manage to look cute even when you're asleep?".

John looks and sees Kyuala in a separate cage with her hands bound as she leans against her cage wall.

"I guess i'm just naturally cute" John replies, earning a chuckle from Kyuala as he joins in.

There's a silence between the two, trying to scope out the severity of their situation but one question rings out in John's mind,

"Why did Amilia sell us out?".

John's question is then met with a responding chuckle from Kyuala and in his confusion about it, he asks, "What's so funny?".

"She didn't betray us, she's playing them" Kyuala says with her grin still on her face and John's face just drops into even more confusion.

Kyuala sees his expression and explains, "She said demon-kissed remember?".

John's mind finally clicks, Amilia's betrayal just suddenly sprang out of nowhere, even during their journey there were no signs, but in the moment, his mind wasn't working normally, his limited functions were mostly focusing on not shitting or pissing himself.

"Wait, where's Lani?!" John bursts out, looking around for his guide.

"Calm down! She's with Amilia, she'll be okay, we can't afford to freak out, especially not in our current predicament" Kyuala responds, trying to calm John which works as he eventually does calm down.

Just then, as the duo quieten down again, they hear a noise in the dark corner to the left of the John.

They quickly look to said corner and that's when they see what appears to be the outline of a something or someone.

In that moment, the pair, in unison say,

"What the fuck is that?".
