Cafe visit

The day seems to go smoothly, with a surprisingly good turnout. The protesters outside seem to give up and go home after a while, though you doubt that they will give up that easily. The mood is definitely pleasant, and you admit to being a little surprised at how well everything goes.

You spend the day chatting, first with Rachel and Dakota, and then with other people when they have to go handle other things. Your parents come in for a visit, and they’re delighted by what they see. All three of the girls make a point to come out to say hi, despite how busy they are, and your parents congratulate them on their success. Mazzy, plotting as always, makes a point to mention Kenna, with all the tact you’ve come to expect from the energetic little halfling.

When Mazzy points out the dragon girl across the cafe, your parents watch for a while. Despite their easy acceptance of the girls, part of you still expects disapproval. After all, this is hardly a traditional relationship! But once again, they defy your expectations, with your dad turning back you you with an approving grin.

“Getting tired of petite women, Brian?”

Your mom laughs. “Jack! Be nice! But…she is a big girl, isn’t she? And very pretty.”

Mazzy grins. “It was my idea to introduce them. You could say she hit it off with Brian right away!”

You chuckle. “That’s one way to put it. Knocked me right over!”

Your dad laughs, glancing over at Kenna again. “Well, I can’t blame you. If I were younger…”

Your mom rolls her eyes, and Mazzy laughs. “I could find somebody for you, if you like! I’m a matchmaker now!”

Your parents laugh, and your dad shakes his head. “No, I think we’re good. We’ll just dote on your growing family, instead.”

Mazzy decides she needs to get back to work, and says her goodbyes. Giving you a quick kiss, she bounces off to the back, happy as always. Once she’s gone you turn back to your parents.

“So, you really don’t mind this?”

Your dad shrugs. “Why should we? It’s not a lifestyle we would live, but there’s no reason for us to judge you for it.”

Your mom nods. “The important things are that you’re happy, they’re happy, and no one’s getting hurt. We love you, and we’ll support you.”

Your dad smiles. “And listen to Mazzy. She’s a smart girl, and wants what’s best for you too.”

You chuckle. “I plan on it.”

He glances over at Kenna again. “So, when will she be joining you?”

You shrug. “Probably pretty soon. I was going to wait until we could build an extension, but the girls insist we won’t need it.”

Your mom smiles. “Well, when she does, make sure you bring her for a visit! We won’t embarrass you just yet.”

You laugh. “Will do. It’s up to the girls, anyway. They pretty much run things now.”

Your mom laughs.
