CHAPTER 13 - The Manager

Miseo nervously paced back and forth in the CEO's office, her heart pounding with each step. She couldn't believe what had happened the night before - that she had unintentionally caused the elimination of some very talented trainees just by sleeping around to ensure victory for herself and Kara. The guilt was eating away at her, and she knew she needed to confront the CEO about it.

The door to the office swung open, and Miseo quickly straightened up as the CEO walked in with a stern expression on his face. He motioned for her to take a seat before sitting down himself. "Miseo," he began gravely, "I know you're upset about what happened last night, but I need you to understand that these things happen."

Miseo shook her head adamantly. "But it wasn't fair! Haneul is so much more talented than me, and now she's at risk of being eliminated just because of my actions!"

The CEO sighed heavily before leaning back in his chair. "I know this seems unfair to you, but that's the nature of the industry we're in. Talent alone isn't enough - you need charisma, stage presence, and the ability to captivate an audience."

"But Haneul has all of those things!" Miseo protested desperately.

The CEO shook his head sadly. "Perhaps she does, but right now, she's still lacking that certain spark that makes a true star. She needs to work on her performance skills if she wants to stay in this program." He paused for a moment before continuing, "And while I understand your concern, I need you to remember that you're the one who made it possible for Haneul and Yeona to remain trainees. Without your efforts, they would have been eliminated as well."

Miseo blinked back tears of frustration and guilt. She knew the CEO was right - she had been the one to ensure victory for her team by using her...assets. But that didn't make it any easier to accept the fact that talented people were being pushed out simply because they lacked a certain je ne sais quoi.

The CEO softened his tone slightly, seeing Miseo's distress. "I understand this is difficult for you," he said gently. "But I need you to focus on your own growth and development right now. If Haneul truly has what it takes to be an idol, she'll find a way to shine no matter the circumstances."

Miseo nodded slowly, understanding that there was nothing more she could do in this situation. All she could control was her own actions and dedication to becoming the best damn idol she could possibly be.

As Miseo stood in the CEO's office with a heavy heart, she made a silent vow to herself - no matter what happened from now on, she would never let her talents (or lack thereof) hold her back again. And maybe, just maybe, she could use her newfound confidence and determination to help lift up those around her too.

After all, even a sexy and untalented girl like Miseo had to start somewhere...right?

She turned to leave the CEO's office when he called out to her once more. "Oh, and one last thing, Miseo," he said with a knowing smile.

She turned back around, eyebrow raised in curiosity as she waited for him to continue.

"I gave your number to the manager of our upcoming girl group, Mr. Moon. He'll be contacting you soon about auditions for the lineup."

Miseo's eyes widened in surprise at his revelation. While part of her was excited by the prospect of debuting as an idol, another part felt uneasy knowing that she hadn't earned it through her own skills.

"I understand," Miseo said hesitantly, still trying to process this new information.

"Good," the CEO replied with a nod. "Now go and show him what you're made of."

As Miseo walked back to the dorms, she couldn't shake off the conflicting emotions that swirled inside her. She knew that this was an incredible opportunity for her, but at what cost?

As she entered the dorm, she found Haneul sitting in the common area, looking dejected. Miseo hesitated before approaching her friend.

"Hey," she said softly, taking a seat next to Haneul. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry about what happened yesterday."

Haneul looked up at her, surprise etched on her face. "Sorry? Why are you apologizing?"

Miseo sighed heavily as she explained, "Because if it weren't for me... well, maybe the CEO wouldn't have been so harsh in forcing the other trainees to leave. I feel like I let everyone down."

To Miseo's surprise, Haneul reached out and squeezed her hand reassuringly. "Don't blame yourself," she said with a small smile. "We all knew what we were getting into when we joined this company. The industry is tough, and sometimes you have to make difficult choices to succeed."

Miseo was touched by Haneul's words. She realized then that maybe it wasn't just about her – perhaps she could use her influence for good too.

Later that night, as Miseo lay in bed thinking over the day's events, an idea began to form in her mind. Maybe she didn't have to choose between using her sexuality and working hard on her skills. Maybe she could do both.

From then on, Miseo made it her mission to not only ensure that she got a spot on the debut girl group lineup but also to help Haneul along the way. Miseo knew it wouldn't be easy, but for once in her life, she was determined to prove that she could have it all - talent, charisma, connections... and a clear conscience.

The next day, Miseo stepped out of the shower feeling refreshed and ready. As she dried off, she heard her phone buzz with a new text message.

It was from Mr. Moon - he had sent over the details for their meeting that evening. Miseo quickly glanced at the information before setting her phone aside to get dressed. It was a simple text with just the address and name of the establishment.

Little did she know, Haneul had been waiting for just such an opportunity. As soon as Miseo entered the bathroom, Haneul seized the chance to peek at Miseo's phone screen and hastily jotted down the hotel address in her notebook.

When Miseo emerged from the bathroom later that evening, all dolled up for her rendezvous with Mr. Moon, she noticed Haneul watching her with an unreadable expression on her face. But before Miseo could question it, Haneul quickly looked away and busied herself with something else.

Miseo shrugged off the odd interaction and headed out to meet Mr. Moon at the hotel bar, unaware that she was being followed by a very determined trainee who had finally decided to get to the bottom of all the late-night mysteries surrounding her roommate.

It was hard to keep track of Miseo without drawing too much attention. Miseo blended in with her makeup and revealing attire, while Haneul wore a simple casual outfit and a mask. The hotel security didn’t question her, but they were definitely watching.

As Haneul wandered through the lavish hotel lobby trying to find her way to the bar where Miseo had her secret meeting, she suddenly felt a strong hand grasp her arm from behind.

"Miseo!" a deep voice boomed. "I've been waiting for you all night!"

Haneul spun around to face a tall, handsome man with chiseled features and piercing eyes that seemed to bore right into hers. She blinked in surprise as she realized this was the man himself - the one who had summoned Miseo here tonight.

"Oh!" Haneul stammered, trying her best to play along with his misunderstanding. "Yes, of course! I got a bit lost on my way down..."

Mr. Moon's eyes narrowed slightly as he studied her face for a moment before breaking into a wide grin that showed off his perfect white teeth.

"Well then," he said smoothly, taking Haneul by the arm and leading her towards the elevators, "let me show you to our room."

Haneul's heart raced with a mix of excitement and trepidation as she allowed Mr. Moon to escort her up to his hotel suite. She knew this was exactly what Miseo had been doing all along - sneaking out late at night for secret meetings with powerful men.

As they entered the lavish suite, Haneul's eyes widened at the sight of the plush furnishings and breathtaking view of the city below. But her attention quickly shifted back to Mr. Moon as he closed the door behind them with a definitive click.

"Now then," he said in a low voice that sent shivers down Haneul's spine, "let's have some fun."

Haneul swallowed hard, realizing she was now playing a very dangerous game indeed.
