I pulled my lighter from my pocket and began burning the page immediately. Once it was up in smoke I felt mild relief. Technically I had no way of knowing if this actually would work as intended. But if that fucker's rules are to be believed he can't lie to me when we are alone.

A nerdy guy opened in. "Oh hi miss, are you in Mr. Kedder's class?"

My gut winced at the idea I may be compelled to kiss him but nothing. "No, sorry I was just leaving."

"Oh, okay. Well it was nice to meet such a pretty lady."

I breathed a sigh of relief, still nothing. No compulsion, no walking towards him or anything like that. At least that was one problem solved for now. Making my way to my room, I began thinking of what I should do. So if this book has the magic, then stealing and destroying it would likely be the best strategy, but it wasn't like I had much knowledge in lock picking. That gave me an idea though.

Flipping through my phone. I sent Kat a text message.

Hey girl, you still practice that old habit of yours?

Kat was a girl I knew from high school. Though it may be much to say we were friends or anything like that. We just both were in music class together. She told me she used to practice lock picking to help her improve finger dexterity.

With that, our text messages stopped and I felt a mild sense of relief. Take the book, burn it and hell if he can't manipulate me anymore than the game didn't even mater honestly. Yeah, smart plan.
