Chapter 7 by takacube takacube

Does it match the drapes?

Brown all the way

"Hey, you buying?"

Thomas looked up and smiled again as he spotted Mr. Romero, the history teacher, who had come on board a few years back. Even though the two of them were separated by decades (he honestly could be the guy's father at this point), they had hit it off very well and the two of them would often meet at the bar to kick back a few drinks and unwind before heading back home. Thomas motioned for the man to join him at the bar and after motioning for the bartender to bring him the usual, turned and looked at him. "Hot date?"

The younger man shook his head and held up his bag. "Can't when you lug this thing around. Can't get any when the girls hear that you're a teacher. They only hear 'poor' over and over in their heads. Sure, it's a noble profession...noble and poor." He shrugged and then looked at Thomas. "What about you? Darlene kicked you out?"

Thomas laughed and motioned to the clock on the wall. "No, been doing grading all day, felt that I needed some air and a little extra liquid courage. Hate mid-term essay grading time, this sucks." As the two of them kicked back their drinks, Thomas felt the **** hitting him a bit heavier than it usually did and after Romero excused himself, Thomas too got up and after settling his tab, walked out and headed off in the direction of home. It was still early enough that he could read the papers in front of him and after three decades of teaching, he could walk home smashed three sheets to the wind and still be able to read the drivel in front of him. "If I had to say about Moby Dick..." began the report in front of him and he promptly took out an imaginary pen and marked it to hell, just for shits sake.

By the time he reached home, which was just about 15 minutes or so, he was already ready to chuck the whole bag into the pond out back and call it a career. He didn't really need the money (let's be honest, teachers didn't make all that much bank) and the last few years worth had all been for the pension (that was the real reason, he told himself, and not for the fact that retirement would mean more time with Darlene.)

Thomas walked into the house just as he spotted Darlene asleep again, sprawled out on the couch, her glasses on the coffee table and papers strewn all over the place. He just was too tired to really do anything more than lock up, place a blanket over her, and then headed to his study to drop his bags and papers off. After brushing his teeth and splashing some water on his face, he walked to the bed and pulled the quiz out from his notebook as he slipped into bed.

5.) IF YOU WERE A GIRL...WHAT COLOR WOULD YOUR HAIR BE?

He didn't mind the blonde hair that he had, nor did he much care that Darlene was also blonde, but then he thought about it and wondered. Before he had a chance to really think it out, he took out the pen. I would have brown hair, a bit on the darker side. He smiled and stretched before he slipped off his glasses and placed it down on the table and turned off the lights. As he shifted to get into position for sleep, his scalp tingled just the slightest, followed by a slight itch on his groin which he scratched and then fell promptly asleep.

6.) IF YOU WERE A GIRL...WHAT COLOR WOULD YOUR EYES BE?

My eyes are up here...
