Chapter 2 by Endless_Effrontery Endless_Effrontery

What's next?

Brina the Sorceress

Valerie thought it over for at least a minute before shaking her head. “No. It’s a good idea Nora, but we don’t have time to haul her out of prison, re-equip her, brief her on what’s going on and then send her in. Besides, I want someone invested in Serra’s fate to go on this rescue. That means one of us.”

“I’ll do it” Brina volunteered. “We haven’t sent a caster in yet, so we need to test if magic will be more effective than arms.” And I can finally get some firsthand knowledge of what’s going on in there. Valerie’s knights are brave, but they don’t know the first thing about research. Brina took a deep breath to steady herself and fight off a nervous shudder. I just need to make sure I don’t get caught.

“Are you sure?” Nora asked uncertainly. “We need your wisdom and knowledge here to evaluate each room as we progress.”

“Write to the Wizard’s Tower for more recruits; I’m sure they’ll send some. But for now, it has to be me” Brina insisted.

“It’s your decision” Valerie declared, “Please bring Serra home, Brina.” The Princess-Knight clasped her hand on Brina’s shoulder and squeezed. “I believe in you.”

“Thank you, Your Highness” Brina replied and set off.

The sorceress’ apprehension started to evaporate as she stepped through the barrier that blocked entry into the dungeon. Now that she was in, no one else would be allowed to enter until she left or was defeated by the dungeon. I wish I had time to study that enchantment. Well, maybe after I rescue Serra. If I rescue her. The thought of what would happen if she failed made her shudder. She didn’t want to contemplate that twisted fate; especially since she knew that it would be seen firsthand by her friends through the divination.

She banished the gloom from her mind and focused on making notes of her surroundings as she passed through each chamber. There doesn’t seem to be any apparent pattern she noticed. The first room was a sewer tunnel and held giant rats. Then there was a snake room in a jungle, followed by wolves in a forest. The rooms do seem to be getting more difficult the deeper we go. The tentacle creature was in room number 9, and if this dungeon was similar to others than there would be some kind of boss battle for room number 10. Maybe I should leave that to someone else.

The voluptuous red-headed sorceress made good time as she marched through the dungeon and soon found herself standing outside the entrance to the 9th room. “Wish me luck” she told her voyeuristic companions before casting invisibility on herself. Brina carefully stepped into the next room, ready for the spongy floor and dangling tentacles after Serra’s experience.

What’s the best way to do this? She wondered as she moved deeper into the chamber. Before she could make a decision her thoughts were interrupted by Serra’s lewd moans.

“MMmppplh! Mmmm! NNNG!” The Knight was still suspended in the air, completely naked now and stuffed in three holes by thick tentacles. Her stomach was obscenely distended from a seeming unending torrent of cum being pumped into her by the monster.

It took all the discipline of years of arduous study not to gasp at the revolting sight. I can’t give myself away that easily. As soon as I attack, the spell will break so I need to make the most of it. Brina shifted her gaze to the creature’s center mass. The maw was still gaping open, but the eye was locked on Serra’s body. It’s distracted, good. She followed six trunks extending from the monster, from which small tentacles broke off like branches.

Tentacles, or body? Which to attack first? After considering it, Brina decided on a powerful alpha strike right to the main body. The sorceress’ hands waved, tracing mystical patterns as she summoned a fireball. Once it was formed she lobbed in directly at the monster’s mouth. The flaming orb broke the veil surrounding her as it sailed from her hands, but before it landed in the creature its jaws slammed shut. The blast singed the outside, making the beast scream and its tentacles flail about.

Brina twisted, weaved, and dodged around the appendages as the swung wildly. It must still be responding on instinct she observed as she rolled over a low sailing limb. She landed on her feet and sent five magic missiles flying through the air. The arcane bolts slammed into the creature’s body ineffectually. She didn’t have time to wonder as a thick arm smashed into her stomach and sent her flying across the room.

“Ooof!” The wind was knocked from her body by the impact, but at least her landing was cushioned by the spongy floor. Six tentacles pounced towards her, trying to grab her the way they had Serra. Brina fought through the stun and cast a lightning bolt that struck the nearest one then chained through the others.

The first two burned up entirely, while the third smoked and fell limply to the ground. The last three crackled with electric energy, but continued on. Two wrapped around her ankles and squeezed while the third slapped her across the face.

“Ugh!” Brina grunted in pain, but fought through it to cast shocking grasp. She snatched the tentacle ouf of the air as the limb came in for a second attack and infused electricity into it directly. The monster squealed in pain again and the appendage shriveled and died. Unfortunately the monster’s reflex kicked in and the tentacles wrapped around her ankles pulled away taking the sorceress with them.

“Aaaah!” The sorceress yelled as she found herself flying through the air. The motion made the skirt of her robe fly up, flashing her white panties to the room. Thankfully there wasn’t anyone to see…except for Valerie and Nora back in the command center. The embarrassment of exposure was quickly superseded by worry over her situation as the tentacles slammed her onto the ground.

Her breasts mashed painfully against the floor and blood started gushing from her nose. The appendages flipped her over and started pulling her towards the creature’s hungry maw. Summoning the last of her reserves, Brina cast the first thing that came to mind and threw an acid bolt at the main body. Please, please, please! The spell flew true and splashed into the beast’s singular eye and started melting into the sensitive flesh.

It screamed in pain, but only for a brief moment before it slumped over and started to shrivel. The tentacles fucking Serra fell to the ground bringing the knight with them. Even the ground beneath them started to smoke as the awful monster broke up and disappeared without a trace. In a flash Serra was transported out of the dungeon leaving Brina lying on the floor alone, battered, and panting for breath.

Brina the Sorceress – Health 1 Attack: 12, Defense: 8 Pros: Has arcane magic, powerful attacks, good at researching, decent at scouting thanks to magic Cons: Low health

What should Brina do next?

a) Search the dungeon (As stated, with chance to find attribute enhancing treasure, or some clue that might make future delves successful. Small chance of the dungeon reclaiming the room and putting her in peril.)

b) Foolishly attack the next room (Automatically win initiative and strike first at whatever is inside)

c) Scout the next room (If successful, Brina will see what is in the next room and have the opportunity to attack or withdraw. If unsuccessful, Brina will immediately be attacked and lose the initiative.)

d) Retreat out of the dungeon (Swap Brina for another character. Brina will recover hit points and possibly level up between adventures)
