Chapter 3
by Miss-Emmie
Runa's latest job begins
Breaking in
With a sharp blade, Runa cuts through the glass on a window of a three-story merchant's mansion. A circle of glass falls away, Runa deftly reaching her arm through the hole she'd made and delicately placing it on the ground. Then, she reached her arm up, unlocked the window, and lifted it up so that she could slip inside.
The owner of this mansion, Hal Jacobs, had a crew of hired mercenaries patrolling the street outside the mansion. But they had not planned for Runa to climb up a tree in the garden and slip in through the top floor. The guards were all on ground level, not having been allowed inside by the paranoid merchant. As long as Runa didn't make any noise (and didn't wake Hal who was currently asleep in his bedroom on this same floor) she'd be able to grab what she needed and get out.
Currently, she was in Jacobs' office. There were several paintings and statues, as well as several shelves of books. Of course, his desk was impressive and carved from maple, with stacks of papers atop it. While the papers themselves did not have value to Runa, if there was any incriminating information on them she could send those to the right people. And there was possibly a safe here in the office, hidden away with Jacobs' most precious valuables inside.
So she'd need to investigate to determine what was best for her to steal.
Runa rolls to investigate
