Chapter 6 by Imperial_Mage Imperial_Mage

What's next?

Breakfast

As he leaves his room, Marcus stumbles into Amelia also leaving her room opposite his. She's stretching but as she notices him she stops in her tracks for a moment.

"Woah, did you get taller?" She asks as though noticing something she hadn't before, before shaking her head. He didn't believe he was taller, it must be what Angel said, people are more likely to notice what they find attractive. "Ah, ignore me, I didn't get much sleep. Someone had company last night. So who was it? I bet it was that cute maid from the kitchen."

"Wait, there's a cute maid in the kitchen?" He asks. "Nevermind, sorry about last night... I had an unexpected guest. I'll explain later."

"Yeah yeah, you better stud. At least it sounds like she enjoyed herself, it was honestly kinda hot." She says playfully. "Lets go eat, you need your energy back and I need a coffee."

As you walk through the hallways, you're aware that the maids you pass look at you differently, even Amelia throws a look towards you now and then.

When they head to the dining room for breakfast, he's surprised to see his family are already there. As he enters, he notices their eyes widen subtly.

"Damn, bro, looking good today. Did you do something with your hair?" Julia asks.

"More like with his cock." Amelia mutters under her breath as she beelines for the coffee.

Marcus clears his throat, taking his seat at the head of the table.

"I had a guest last night." He explains. Amelia rolls her eyes with a smirk.

"Gods, you're telling your family..?" She chuckles.

He laughs at how it must look to her.

"About this one." He replies. "An angel, or so she claimed."

At this, everyone lets their cuttlery drop, their mouths agape.

"She said she was my companion and gave me her blessing. It's just... I don't see how it could possibly help."

"What type of angel?" His ex-cleric mother asks, if anyone can help him make sense of this it'd be her.

"Fertility."

Julia gasps, Livia blushes and looks down, Amelia laughs. His mother, however, looks thoughtful.

"Fertility..." She hums to herself. She studies you more closely. Her eyes wander your body. "Your task must involve you needing a more delicate approach than swinging your sword and casting a few spells."

"But f-f-fertility?" Livia asks. "W-wouldn't love, peace or justice be better? U-unless..." She blushes again.

"The gods would have picked the correct angel for the job." Their mother explains. "Fertility is one of the purer manifestations of lust and a companion to love."

"So what do you think it means?" He asks her.

"Amelia's joke yesterday about _'fucking' _our enemies into friends might hold some weight afterall..." She thinks aloud. "Nobles form alliances by joining their families afterall and who better to do so than an avatar of lust from the imperial family..."

"What?!" Julia protests suddenly. "Marcus! You're not going to get married to some... some..." She can't seem to find the appropriate word.

"J-jealousy isn't a g-good look, sis..." Livia says quietly with a smirk. Amelia and their mother also share a knowing look towards Julia.

"I am not jealous." Julia protests, sulking. "Just... Marcus should be with someone he loves and who cares for him..."

"I have a feeling, if the gods will it, Marcus will have a lot of women he loves in his future." Their mother says with a chuckle.

Julia goes pale but doesn't say anything, instead she just plays with her food in deep thought.

"Did she tell you anything else, darling?" Her mother asks.

"Not much. She blessed me and in the morning explained the blessing to me." He replies.

"Well, good news, it was an angel of fertility. I can feel the changes in you." She explains. "I'm sure you had an incredible night and I can't wait for my first grandchild." She says with a smirk. "You'll no doubt see her again with more guidance."

"So we just wait?" He asks.

"We prepare. We're still going with you, wherever you must go."

"Can we leave our training for today?" Julia asks. "There's something I want to search in the library."

"Oh?" He asks.

"I'll let you know later. I'm still not sure I'll find anything."

"Alright then. Livia, if you want I'll teach you how to use a crossbow. Hopefully you'll never need it, but it's better to be prepared if we're going to be on the road." !Amelia says, finishing her meal and standing up.

"O-ok!" Livia agrees with new determination.
