Breakfast plans

When morning comes, you find yourself in bed with a still sleeping Alex, but Addie has already gotten up. You assume you slept in, considering the busy night. As you disentangle yourself from the clinging efreet, she mumbles the usual disagreements.

“No, stay…warm…cuddles…”

You chuckle to yourself as she curls up, going back to sleep. Getting dressed, you head out to the main room, wondering how late you slept in. You find everyone still sat around the table having breakfast, and you once again endure some gentle teasing.

Addie has a plate ready for you as you sit, and you dig right in. Across the table, Cassie giggles. “From what Addie said, you worked pretty hard last night, I bet you’re hungry!”

You chuckle. “Well, I don’t think I need to brag, but it seems like everyone had a good time.”

A glance at Addie shows that she’s nodding, and the others around the table laugh. Cassie won’t let up, though, a mischievous smile on her face. “You’d better have something left for me, though! All the other girls got something special since we’ve been here, I want it too!”

You look at her in confusion for a moment. “What do you mean? I’m happy to oblige, but…”

You look over to see Sarah and Melora share a glance and a grin. “Wait, you two?”

Sarah grins. “Well, yeah. I have to get along with the other girls, right?”

You look to Ferra. “What about you?”

Ferra gives you her small smile. “Sarah came to me the first night. She shared her story with me, and I shared mine with her. And then we had sex.”

You laugh at the golem girl‘s blunt explanation. “Fair enough. I’m glad you’re fitting in, Sarah.”

Victor clears his throat, though he’s chuckling too. “Once again, not to interrupt the family bonding time, but we need to get our supplies gathered today, so we can get moving again tomorrow morning.”

You nod. “Understood. How far to the next stopping point?”

Victor thinks for a moment. “Maybe a week of travel, less if we push it. The sooner we get back, the sooner we can work on this plan you have.”

Melora smiles. “The good news is that we can stick to the road now. We’re far enough from the capital that I can freely use my powers without fear of detection.”

Victor strokes his chin. “It’s odd that we’re not being chased. I’d be less worried if we had to dodge patrols constantly. I can’t imagine they’ll just forget us.”

You sigh. “Unfortunately, we have **** but to keep going. We’ll deal with the consequences as they come.”

Cassie smiles. “I wouldn’t worry too much. Any group that could threaten us all together will be obvious, Melora will spot them easily!”

You nod.
