Brainiac finds a way to Corrupt Nightwing

Brainiac.

Bane of the galaxy, destroyer of thousands of planets and civilizations. He was and is a **** to be reckoned with in the galaxy, and yet he had not yet been able to annex Earth. The jewel of this universe, the anchor point of a vast multiverse and more importantly, the home of the last known Kryptonians.

Again and again he had run against Earth's defenders, again and again he had failed against their combined might. Sometimes he had started it the direct way with an invasion, sometimes he had tried to find allies who could help him in the fight. But again and again he had failed because of a small thing. Sometimes it was the members of the League, sometimes it was Lex Luthor going crazy, sometimes it was a bug in his programming. It was ridiculous by now, even if he was not capable of such feelings.

Currently he was hiding behind Jupiter, trying to learn as much as possible about Earth in order to develop an effective plan of attack. In the end, however, it was more chance that would help him.

Brainiac's central humanoid unit sat in his command chair and watched thousands of holograms he received from Earth. It was relatively easy to do this because Earth allowed its information to flow almost unfiltered into the universe. The so-called Internet was for him a wealth of information, which of course had to be sorted out first.

Rather coincidentally, he came across the announcement of a company called Sony, a new game console to bring out. Actually, this information would have been automatically sorted out by his search grid and yet it was displayed. Curious, he examined the new system and found out that it was supposed to be a fully interactive virtual world.

The technology behind it was primitive and simple by his standards, but it offered him an unexpected possibility. With only a few changes to the programming, he would be able to make simple scans of the player's mind. Not enough to actually read their minds or access their knowledge, but at least enough to detect anomalies. Perhaps he would be able to discover clues about the world's superheroes that way.

Briefly, he closed his eyes and allowed his superior mind to penetrate the Internet. The security barriers of this company were no obstacle to him, more of an entertaining amusement.

Within a few nanoseconds, he had redesigned the entire code. Even experienced programmers would have to look very closely to be able to recognize the subtle changes in the system.

Now he could concentrate again on his primary quest. This project, which he called Sleeper, was more of a secondary goal for him. He could not have known that this simple little console would decide the fate of the world.

2 weeks later on Earth, Gotham City. 12 o'clock in the afternoon.

"What do you mean you need the day off?" Bruce grumbled over the phone.

"It means you can send someone else out today. Come on, Bruce. It's been quiet for weeks! Joker is in traction and Two Face is in Arkham. We haven't heard from Ivy or the others in weeks. There's bound to be a night of quiet in there!" said Dick, amused, looking ahead of him at the endless queue.

"What position you standing in the line?" asked Bruce, completely calm and level-headed, making Dick laugh.

"I should have one in about three hours. What's the point of being your son anyway if you can't even get the thing as a VIP?" he asked, laughing.

"Because I'm not working with Sony. The technology is inferior! Why don't you use the holofields from watchtower if you want to train?"

"I'll just say 3 words!Final Fantasy 17! and since you know as much about that as Joker knows about humor... there's no point in talking to you anymore. So do I get time off or not?"

"For now, yes. If something should happen..."

"IF something should happen you know my priorities. You can always count on me!" he said firmly, but kindly.

"I'll see you on Saturday. enjoy your 3 days off." said Bruce in his calm and determined way, however Dick could gauge how it was meant. Even though Bruce had no clue how to show such a thing he was proud of him.

After 5 hours he finally sat at home and tried to figure out the instructions. It took a little while, but he finally got the device to work.

It consisted of a small box that had to be connected to the Internet and contained the primary computing unit. In addition, there were the 2 gloves, which had the latest control mechanisms. According to Sony, the times for controllers were finally over with this Sony Dream console. In addition, there were large VR glasses that went over the eyes and ears and thus created a perfect immersion. In the VIP package that he had bought, there were also simple sensors that you tied to special points of the body and thus get an active feedback. According to rumors, in a few weeks a prototype of a full-body suit would come on the market that would allow 100% simulation. With temperature, pressure and everything you could imagine.

In the control system he finally activated an alarm in case Bruce should call him. the function to couple his cell phone with the system was just incredibly ingenious. That way he wouldn't have to worry about missing anything.

He had had the entire system checked by Barbara, who had found no evidence of errors or tampering, and so he could start the system undisturbed.

Unfortunately, his beloved Final Fantasy was not yet on the market, but there had been a new edition of the classic Skyrim, which he had bought immediately.

As he activated the system, it briefly went dark and a few flashes of light blinded him before he heard the booming music of the intro.

Finally, tiny jolts of electricity coursed through his body, giving him a rudimentary sense of interaction as he looked around. He was suddenly sitting on a horse-drawn cart.... In front of him a gagged man and a bound dirty guy.

"So what brought you to Skyrim?" the dirty guy asked suddenly and Dick laughed excitedly.

"Shit that's awesome!"

as expected, the AI had not responded to his exclamation and was pretending to reel off its text. The only thing that bothered Dick at the moment was that he didn't have one of those suits... because the feeling wasn't perfect yet. Unfortunately, it was impossible to get such a suit, even for him as the son of Bruce Wayne. The 100 pieces would be raffled off in a test procedure to all buyers of a console in a lottery.

With the sales figures of this console, it was more likely to win all the lotteries of America at the same time than to get such a suit.
