Both... Both Is Good

“Y’know what, Breanna?” The look she gave him for using her real name was venomous, but he kept going, “I’m sorry. Really, I am.”

Both women looked at him with surprise, though Bree was still looking for a fight. He didn’t plan on giving her one. Not today.

“I’m sorry that you have to have sex with someone you hate and despise with everything you have. I’m sorry that doing this has stressed you and my sister out so much. I’m even sorry that living with you both has made things so difficult for you. If it’s any consolation, I was planning to move out sometime next week or so. That’s what you both wanted, and I don’t blame you.”

“Sam…” his sister looked at him with conflicting emotions now, while Bree just looked irritated.

“But this is how things have to be for a little while. I can’t change that. You can’t either. So we’re going to have to figure out how to at least get along long enough for all of this to be over. I’m going to head to my room for a bit and work on some things first.”

Sam started walking down the hall Bree had just come out of before turning around to add, “When you want to get started, you know where to find me.”

Something in Sam’s eyes must have caught Bree’s attention, because she didn’t snip back or say anything else. She stared right into his eyes, expecting a bluff or some false sense of bravado. What she found was only cool and collected confidence, something she hadn’t been expecting at all. Then Sam turned back around and walked off to his room. He had some writing to do.

Back in his bedroom, he decided to put on some headphones to chill out and calm down. He had been demeaned and insulted, but he didn’t want to stay angry about it. What would be the point? He had everything he needed to win this game and make Bree pay for what she said. She had said things to hurt him, but he wasn’t the same person he had been yesterday. He felt stronger, more in control than he’d ever been in his life and the feeling was downright addictive.

He could do anything he wanted, but that wasn’t what made his heart soar. The key was having fun. It was a game now, with subtle rules all on its own. Rules that wouldn’t be decided by him anymore, but Bree. Her every word would determine how he would progress this little game of theirs

With that said, Sam opened his notebook back up again and took out a convenient pencil on his nightstand. After writing a couple lines down, he put away his notebook and tried to relax some more. His plan was actually pretty simple: he was going to wait for Bree to come to him now. He wasn’t going to make a single effort to start this, because he wasn’t the one with a deadline.

Every day, twice a day, they were going to have sex, because that was the rule of this world now. Sooner or later, she would need to come here and start on the first two rounds. Of course, things weren’t going to be easy anymore, and Bree was in for a few surprises for sure, from the old rules and the newer ones he’d just made.

Sure, there were things he wanted to do too, but he had to set limits for himself if he wanted to keep everything under control and not overreach. The temptation was real, for sure, but he would resist it. It would be far more entertaining this way, after all.

Sam busied himself for several hours, listening to music, watching videos online and reading some stories he’d found he liked. Time passed on and rather than be annoyed, Sam felt his spirits rise higher than ever. The more she delayed, the sweeter the ending would be, he knew.

It was around seven when his door finally opened, but not to the woman he was expecting. Samantha came in with a plate of Chinese takeout in her hand and a curious look in her eye as she surveyed the room. It was cleaned up now, except for a couple books placed on the bed for reference, his computer on and his clothes put away.

“You cleaned up at least, I see. Bonus points for you.”

Sam rolled his eyes at his sister as he got up to take the plate from her hand. “I’m glad I’ve impressed one girl today, at least. I figured it would be easier to relax without the mess. Thanks for the food, by the way. I was wondering if I was going to starve or something before trouble finally showed up.”

Samantha shot him a look. “She’s still… processing everything. I’ve been trying to calm her down and get her to be more positive about it. You know she has her reasons for not trusting men.”

Sam scowled. “So I’m supposed to accept being treated like a criminal without having done anything. I bet she’s just trying to keep herself from gagging at the thought of me. I think I’ve been pretty polite about this whole thing, Sammy. Tell her she can take as long as she wants, cause I’m not exactly going anywhere.”

“Sam, it’s not like that. Don’t make me have to choose between you two. I love her, but I know you’re not like that. Isn’t that enough?” She was **** now, trying to be the calm, neutral party between them. Sam took pity on her and let it go.

For his sister, he’d do almost anything.

“Fine. I get it.” He squirmed a bit on his bed before nervously asking, “So, um, where exactly are you going to be? I mean… y’know…”

It was Samantha’s turn to look sheepish as she explained, “I’m going to go for a walk. Bree will text me when you two are, um, finished.”

The siblings tried not to look too awkward in front of each other, but both failed miserably. Sam was cognizant of the fact that his roommates were intimate with each other on a fairly regular basis. That didn’t mean they were comfortable talking about it to each other.

“That works out then. Just stay safe out there, okay?”

She just rolled her eyes at him. “I think you’re going to be in for a rougher night than me. Just try not to kill each other while I’m gone. And don’t damage the goods. She’s still my girlfriend.”

“Suuuuure. Not like I’m worried about getting stabbed while you’re gone. I’m only your twin brother. No sweat.”

She smirked back, tossing her hair like a princess as she admonished, “All’s fair in love and war.”

He chuckled darkly, before finally shooing his sister out so he could finish his dinner in peace. He was done in half an hour with still no sign of Bree. It wasn’t like he hadn’t expected it, but even his patience was dropping to dangerous levels. The only thing that sustained his perseverance was imagining everything he’d do to make up for the lost time. Every few minutes, Sam was tempted to **** the issue by using the book, but he resisted the urge.

Maybe it was stupid to pretend like this scenario was at all consensual, but he didn’t want to become too ready to use the book to solve his problems. It was only a matter of time.

It was while Sam was reading one of his favorite book series that he heard the front door open and close, signifying someone had left. A few tense minutes later and he heard a knock rap against his bedroom door. For as long as he’d been waiting, Sam almost hesitated to answer, as if this was somehow a trap.

But only for a second, then he called out, “Come in.”

Bree opened the door, already looking agitated. Propping herself against the door frame with her arms crossed and her lips drawn in a frown, he could see she was anything but comfortable. Then again, the last time she’d come into his room was when she’d caught him watching porn, which she’d already made her feelings quite clear on.

Looking over the room, Bree did nothing to hide the distaste on her face.

“I see you cleaned up. Must have been awful for you.” She quipped haughtily.

Sam’s brow arched a bit, then he chuckled. That was obviously not the reaction she’d been hoping for, her features hardening at his strange response.

“What the hell is wrong with you? You’ve been acting like a complete bastard all day. What, are you that stoked to fuck your own sister’s girlfriend? Does that do it for you or something?”

Sam smiled back. “Honestly? I think I would have preferred someone a little nicer to have my first time with, but I guess it’s not a total loss. My sister and I do share similar tastes. After all.”

She squinted at him. “I am nice. You just don’t deserve my nice face. You don’t deserve any part of me, actually, but I guess the world rewards losers too now.”

That made him frown a bit, but before he could respond, she continued, “Okay, let’s stop here and just… get this over with. How do you want to do this?”
