Boring as Her Parent's Marriage
Emily could faintly remember a different time. A time when her mother was engaged and excited. A time with a stepfather ... virile and athletic. But for most of her life, there'd been Douglas ... and that marriage was as plain as it got. The only relics of that past life was her mother's surname, King, and her brother, J.D.
So when Ian Pritchard came calling, vanilla and boring and usual made sense. They had a son, Richard, named after her grandfather. They had a daughter, Victoria, named after Ian's mother. And now, there was little for Emily to do, other than make dinner, lay by the pool, and read Cosmo. It was a life, but the boredom was practically tangible.
