Bliss

After he made the team, there was really no reason to delay it. It didn't make sense to many. He was eighteen, a product of a broken home, and without the social upbringing that Elizabeth had. And on the other side of the table, Elizabeth was still young, but had three children from another man. Many couldn't figure out what brought the two of them together.

Yet when Jamaal proposed, there was no hesitation for Elizabeth. She jumped into Jamaal's arms, kissing him soundly. It was all optimism for them both.

They did a simple courthouse ceremony. Partly because many of the common acquaintances thought it was doomed for failure, and there was no room for pessimism in Elizabeth's life. Partly because of the sticky situation that Douglas had basically moved in with Jada, and there was the real potential her ex-husband would become her stepfather-in-law.

After the ceremony, Jamaal formally adopted Emily, Aaron and Katie. There were now the Kings.
