Blame on Aqua.

"Oh, we did get some complaints about ghosts coming into town," the guild receptionist, Luna remarked as Kazuma and his party stood before her. He was wondering why he had yet to use the Note on her, but then again, his party had taken priority, other than a momentary sidetracking with Rin. He'd definitely try it on her later though. "Since you took care of part of the problem, you can have some of the reward the Guild has set aside for the task."

"Sweet!" Kazuma cheered. "...wait, PART of the problem?"

"Yes... As it turns out, some prankster put a huge holy barrier around the cemetery, and that kept lower level spirits out of it. Higher level undead wouldn't even notice said barrier, as it only targeted lower level ghosts. Because of that, they settled into abandoned houses in town instead," Luna replied. "It has been taken down as of this morning though, so the spirits shouldn't be wandering about anymore."

Kazuma spotted an awkward looking Aqua trying to slip off. "What do you know about this?" he asked bluntly, catching her by the collar.

"... it's Megumin's fault!" Aqua panicked, pointing at Megumin.

"WHAT!?" Megumin squawked. "How in the hell do you figure this is my fault!? You're the only one here who can pull off that kind of magic!"

"Explain. Now," Kazuma ordered Aqua.

"...okay, remember when we first met Wiz, and you got her to agree to figure out a solution to her unintentionally bringing zombie to life? Well, Megumin kinda bullied me into going to the cemetery every night until she did to take care of the lost souls for her," Aqua explained, touching her index fingers together awkwardly. "That's what I meant when I said it was her fault..."

"I only told you to do something nice," Megumin huffed.

"And the barrier?" Kazuma crossed his arms.

"...after the second night of not getting enough sleep, I decided I was done with it, and put the barrier up, thinking that if the spirits couldn't even go there, I wouldn't have to worry about it... And it was also partly to mess with Wiz a bit since she wouldn't find any spirits when she finally returned to sending them off to heaven..." she chuckled nervously.

"...so this was your fault to begin with, and you know now we can't accept the rewards for dealing with a problem you caused... Right?" Kazuma sighed, slumping. There went having a free luxurious home for a few months.

"...right," Aqua wept, slumping as well. "... let's just go get telling realtor-san about it over with..."
