Black Heart
Maggie. It was true. They had been good friends. Had.
But in their parents’ eyes they were enemies — competition. Those stolen locker room talks and swapping candies were a secret — the truth. On the outside, they were on opposing sides.
Cameron had quit track. Freedom.
“Maggie — You hate this more than I do. Come with me,” Cameron said.
“Not everyone has the luxury of a rich boyfriend to save them,” Maggie seethed.
“I’m not a quitter — what my parents did for me was a blessing in disguise,” Maggie walked away, “I am going win.”
Sergei had pushed for intimacy. Massaging, groping a breast. But Cameron was out of it.
Lost in thought. Losing herself in the past.
“I know you cheat on me. I stay. But why do you stay?!” Cameron said.
Sergei screwed up his face. Disbelief.
“What? No way… I’d never cheat on you!” he said.
“Don’t lie to me — please.” She teared up, “I could never leave you — even if you did cheat…”
This submission. She would stay despite the type of man he was. Loyalty.
Squeezing a drop of humanity out of his black heart.
“Yes. I do cheat on you.”
