Birth of a Dragon

As you descended to the world time itself slows and knowledge begins to flow into you. “Holly cow! I get to be a dragon?” “Ok, don’t be rash let’s see what we have to work with.”

Looking though the options you felt a little frustrated. So many good options. The Serpent options were a nonstarter, not having legs or arms was a no go. Hydra? No thanks, you had enough trouble talking to yourself as is. Drake, Dragon turtle, Wyvern and Fairy dragon all looked to specialized. The potent breath of the salamander looked useful but still a little two narrow in focus. The Western and Northern looked to be a good start for a physical build and the southern had some interesting possibilities. The Elemental, no not your cup of tea. That left the Eastern, something about the sage dragons of the orient called to you. A powerful caster was going to be your focus.

Next how big to be? Honestly the Large and up looked like more trouble that anything. The tiny? Nope not going to be someone’s pet. Small or Medium then, you went Medium pushing more towards the upper end of the range comparable to some of earths largest mammalian predators.

Ok color, well you were going for a magic build and being able to shoot a **** laser was all kinds of awesome. And that dovetailed nicely into breath weapon, bump that up to two and move on.

Now special Features, hmmmm. Ok a few basic physical abilities like scale and claw 1 for anything that though the old bum rush the caster was a great idea. Fur, hmmm, a warm layer on the underside would be nice, like warm flannel pjs. Pick up one in that. Ah mobility this was going to be important you picked up 2 in flying and Crawling and thanked the system your Wingless flight let you swim for free. Behold the all terrain dragon. Then bingo magic and smarts, Ok don’t get greedy 2 in magic and 1 in brain should give you a good foundation to becoming a powerful caster. Now… Fertility? What? you were effectively sterile? Oh hell no, bumping that up to 2 right now. Yes, having kids was a dice role but better to have a large family tree that needed the occasional rot removed than a lone stump.

Ooooh Rare features, now what can we do with this. Oh Multi breath opened up interesting options. Add Magic and Spirit breath options. Most of the physical specials were Meh though brood lord got a maybe. Pheromones? Adaptive Genitalia? Well if you were planning on having kids it stood to reason you would want your partner to enjoy it as much as possible, so why not. Now Shimmerdust that could be a nasty surprise in a magic duel. And Resurrection Egg looked like the best option. I had a sneaking suspicion on how a male dragon could create one of those.

Ok now the eats, to answer the oldest question. What’s for dinner. Quite frankly the more exotic options looked sketchy as all get out so you went with tried and true Surf and Turf. Looking over at you Ur-Ember balance you had to wince, that looked bad. Looking at the Drawbacks you quickly flicked through the options you would be ok with and those you wouldn’t, Weak Spot was reasonable everyone knows the crotch is a soft spot so everyone knew on an instinctive level to defend it. Hoarding, yes Dragons have hoards and you figured a good portion of your horde would actually help defend the rest. Horny… well that may wind up being a boon more than a bane. Guardian, was already planning on that. Telegraph Breath, arcana glow, leaking breath probably have ways to work around that and if not we’ll rule of cool dictated this must be. Dragonite weakness, bit of a gamble but if it was indeed that rare you could probably collect a fair percent of it and hopefully blast anyone with a sword or spear before they could poke you with it. Ravenous, we’ll a hollow leg was something you had deleted with before. Now you hade one option that looked like a loop hole to ****. You looked over the drawback carefully and yes it did look like you could take this multiple times. You stacked Life Link six times.

Ahhhh now the good bit, Spells! Do not be to greedy, you took a good selection of level 2 spells and some level 1 s as well. Which one’s exactly? A magician never reveals his tricks though going by the wording you almost got the feeling you could improve your spells through practice and research along with learning other spells. You did pick up a few at level 3

With the glut of UrEmber from Life Link you went back and re assessed you build, So muscles 3, jaw, claws, scales to one. Bump tail to 3, pick up roar 1, bump magic to 3 and then raise it further with the legendary feature you may someday challenge even the gods.

With your build set you move on tho the next step time to grant some wishes and choose some companions.
