Chapter 3 by Gildedtongue Gildedtongue

Who is it that Applejack harbors secret feelings for, and why would it be such a scandal?

Big Macintosh,

She saw him on top of one of the hills of the apple orchard. The large stallion looking at the bright full moon in his usual quiet reflection. Applejack couldn't help but feel her heart pound faster in her chest as her four hooves brought her closer to the red pony quietly chewing on straw.

Not that AJ was unknown to the passionate lovemaking that her big brother could offer. Years upon years ago, with Applejack's first taste of her family's famous cider, the drunken pony and her sloshed brother found themselves in the barn, and their bout of unprotected bliss brought about a cute little foal. Granny Smith had convinced the town that Apple Bloom was merely another sister from the long absent parents of Applejack and Big Macintosh, but the siblings knew better. Big Mac wasn't much to talking, so he wasn't about to spill the oats, but the lie did fester in the back of the Element of Honesty's mind.

That lie wasn't the worst, though. Oh, sure, she tried to convince herself that it was just a drunken fling that was meaningless. Fillies and mares love their brothers, sure, but they don't fall in love with them, do they?

They certainly can, and they do, Applejack learned. Her hoofprints moved slowly up the hill, approaching her brother as he sat alone. She was going to do it. She knew who her Special Somepony was, and she was going to let him know.

A twig snapped under Applejack's forehoof, bringing the attention of Big Mac. The red pony turning his head, looking into the face of his little sister, her orange face illuminated by the bright yellow moon.

Applejack had a moment to decide what to do.
