Mike Hart was a lucky guy.
He had a great girlfriend and a loving family.
(And his grades were pretty good, too.)
The only downside was getting bullied, particularly by Jason and his team.
They picked on him for being a nerd, and it only intensified when he started going out with Jade.
Yet, even that had stopped.
So, yeah. Mike would say he was a very lucky guy.
Perhaps even the luckiest.
Still, he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of doubt as he saw his wonderful girlfriend go with Jason to his van.
He’d heard the rumors about Jason; about what he’d do to girls who caught his eye, about what...activities...they would get up to in the van. He wasn’t sure if he fully believed them, but those seeds of discord had been definitively sown in his mind.
Also, Jason wasn’t exactly trustworthy. He claimed to have had a change of heart and decided to stop bullying Mike, but Mike couldn’t help but feel that it was just a front.
A ploy by Jason, to claim Jade for himself.
After she broke up with him, this was his second attempt at rekindling the relationship. Or something like that.
(Unbeknownst to Mike, it spoke volumes about his naivety that he believed Jason treated Jade, or other girls for that matter, as anything more than sex objects.)
Mike highly doubted Jade would reciprocate those feelings. On the off-chance that she did, however...
Thus, he made the decision to follow them. He’ll check for himself, and see if there was anything fishy going on.
