Beam Me Up Scotty!?

"You Did It Father You Really Did It!," Declared Gog in an astonished tone and why not, Aaron just completed something he had been working on for the last 10 years.

For the last 10 years Aaron had worked on creating his own transporter system but he hadn't been particularly motivated to complete it so he just worked on it on and off as a kind of pet project. Just something to help him relax and unwind, and as such he hadn't really given much thought to actually completing it until recently. Someone had already come after him whether they were actually targeting him or not was no longer the issue. He had killed scores of the enemy and in one case tortured a member of their group so it was more than likely they would seek retribution at some point in the future so he needed to take more precautions so that he could whisk his Mother and Sisters away to safety if the situation demanded it.

Laying on the operating table last night as his body was being repaired, Aaron started a series of modifications and planned out several improvements to the transporter system he had been working on.

Planet-based Transporters are practically impossible with the technology available and because of all the interference which is why they were mostly found on starships which could supply the massive amounts of power necessary for operation and had the technical sophistication which allowed them to literally cut through atmospheric interference to beam away teams down to a planet or moon and then back up again.

What Aaron had in mind was completely different from what science currently conceived of as a Transporter. It would solve so many of the problems involved with transporter technology and it would be virtually undetectable. Aaron had even considered using it last night to escape from the soldiers trying to kill him but laboratory tests and a couple of successful field tests under near ideal conditions were not enough for him to risk his life in an already dangerous situation so he decided against it and elected instead to fight his way out which given his resources at the time was the best option available but he couldn't expect to always be so lucky so steps would have to be taken and that is what he was working on.

Aaron put the final touches on the first phase of the project that he had devoted 10 years of his life to on and off, and as he stood back looking at the newly constructed transporter assembly which would become the heart of new system he had created he crossed his arms and thought in satisfaction., "This Will Be One More Tool To Keep Them Safe."

There were still some adjustments and refining that would have to be done to maximize its effectiveness but for now it would serve his purposes.

Without even thinking about his destination, Aaron turned and stepped through a door that had appeared out of know where [Ha! See What I Did There?]. A Split second later Aaron found himself on Level 92 or as Aaron called it 'Factory Complex C' which specialized in Material, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. Once there, Aaron went over to what was essentially an enormous pressure furnace and carefully prepared the materials he would need for the next phase of his plan. He divided the ingredients he had selected from the vast stores available to him into four equal portions which he put into four identical cube-shaped metallic containers. The contents of each container was exactly the same except for the final addition to each set of selected chemical components.

Aaron sealed each container then placed each one in one of the slots in the furnace and initiated the process by flipping several switches and pressing a few buttons. While Aaron was waiting he prepared a series of tools and several small bars of precious metals; namely Gold, Silver, and Platinum. It took Aaron around 45 minutes to get everything ready and by that time the furnace had done its job. When the alarm announced the completion of the process, Aaron put on a pair of thick, heavy gloves and removed each of the containers from the furnace using a retractable rod with a claw on the end of it and set them down on the table one by one.

When he had finished that he removed the top of each container and used the claw to turn them upside down, dropping their contents onto the table in a solid brick-like clump. Once that was done Aaron set the claw aside and removed the gloves before picking up the first block. It was pitch black like a polished block of coal. Aaron studied the block for several seconds before placing it back down on the table where he picked up a small rock hammer and hit the block dead center, causing the brittle carbonaceous waste to crumble, thereby revealing a bright red stone buried under the excess carbon. The raw red stone was the size of a newborn's fist and it shined like sunlight through a drop of blood.

"Beautiful!," That was Aaron's first thought as he held up the red stone and regarded it with an appraising eye. That was really the only way to describe it... Beautiful.

Aaron repeated the process with the remaining three, revealing similar but different colored gemstones. Aaron cleared away the debris and cleaned up each stone before setting to work on his next task. It hurt Aaron to do it to such pretty stones but he used a small hand laser to cut each of the stones in two then he set about meticulously shaping each into the desired form for his purposes. After preparing the first stone and its other half Aaron selected one of the Gold bars and one of the platinum ones, and placed them in a machine similar to a combination of a microwave oven and a small potter's kiln.

Aaron closed the lid on the machine and pressed a series of buttons, and watched as the two bars of precious metal vaporized almost immediately. He found the entire process fascinating as the lighter Gold Vapor and the denser Platinum Vapor were collected by a series of clear tubes and then fed into a pair of robotic arms that rapidly extruded the condensed vapor and formed it into the shape and style Aaron had programmed into the machine.

It only took a matter of moments for the hyper-dexterous fingers of the robot arms to make a Gold Band and a Platinum necklace. Each had a place for the stones that Aaron had carved using the laser. Aaron examined the ring and the necklace and smiled., "I Knew All Those Long Hours of Designing, Programming, and Building This Little Toy Wouldn't Go To Waste."

Aaron placed the stones in their places and anyone looking at the two stones as they were now would think Aaron had made a mistake because they were too small for both the ring and the pendant but while Aaron certainly wasn't infallible there were some mistakes that he just didn't make. Aaron picked up the pen-sized laser and adjusted its intensity to the lowest setting before aiming it at the gem he placed in the ring which was clamped in a table-mounted vice. Aaron had carved the exquisite raw stone into the form of a rose bud and as the stone glowed an even brighter red it actually began to bloom just like the rose it had been modeled after. The crystalline rose bud opened into a the most beautiful and detailed imitation of a Rose one could possibly imagine.

Aaron was astonished at how well the ring had turned out though he shouldn't since everything was going to plan... his plan but with something this important there was naturally a part of Aaron that was expecting the worst possible outcome but looking at it he was reminded of the first Rose he had ever given his Mother and remembering her smiling face brought a tear to his eye.

Aaron wasted no time using the laser to carve a series of small almost imperceptible patterns into the heart of the stone. It took him an exhausting ten minutes of intense concentration but when Aaron was finished he straightened up and tapped the ring's stone with his finger and a series of circuit-like patterns flashed across its immaculate surface. Satisfied with the work, Aaron wasted no time preparing the other three rings and pendants.

When he was finished Aaron plopped down in a chair and marveled at the exquisite pieces of jewelry he had created through tired eyes. He had pushed himself a little too much but looking at the result it was hard to complain.

"I'm Sure They'll Love Them But Now I Have To Think of A Way To Present Them That Won't Be Suspicious... Timing. I Need To Wait For The Right Time But I Can't Wait Too Long Just In Case Someone Else Comes After Me." Aaron thought., "Maybe I Should Think About Making A Set For Zoey and Maybe MJ."
