Basic beginnings

“If you get your face out of mine, I’ll tell you.” Said Jane flatly, pushing Alex away. “We are all going through some rough times back at home. Caroline, you got kicked out of college two months ago because you took the fall for your ex’s drunken vandalism, which landed you a criminal record, and how did he repay you?”

“He… leaked my nudes, because I was no longer ‘useful to him’.” Caroline grabbed her elbows, looking down to the ground.

“Indeed, and Alex.” Continued Jane, directing her gaze to her. “You got an interview at that prestigious research company, which you could only get by doing your boss some ‘favors’. Remember what happened when you stormed out of there.”

“He blacklisted me, and now I can’t get my dream job.” Said Alex. “But what does that have to do with our situation?”

“Don’t you see? This is our golden opportunity to start anew. A land free of the unfairness of our old life. We’ll live by fish and fruits, and lounge around for the rest of our lives. This will be a paradise for generations!” Cheered Jane.

Alex stared wide eyed at Jane. “First of all, we are all women, how do you imagine the ‘generations’ part?”

“Dunno, might be some Tarzan lookin' guys on the island." Smirked Jane.

"Your head really is just for show, isn't it? But besides that, how do you plan on surviving in the wilderness? Do you know the first thing about survival?” Yelled Alex.

“I was a girl scout, remember? I know how to survive in the forest, I’ll figure out how to survive on a island.”

“Great, good to know that our lives rests on you of all people.” Yelled Alex sarcastically. “Why do you even want to abandon society in the first place? We haven’t heard your reason yet.”

“Yeah, I’m kinda curious as well.” Added Caroline.

“I er- kinda pissed off the wrong people.” Jane averted her eyes.

“Jane…?” What did you do?” Asked Caroline.

“I met this guy who asked me to take a small sack to Brazil for some cash. I thought ‘great, a little spending money’. So I accepted it.

“Wait, was that why you kept shifting your ass during the plane flight?” Asked Caroline.

“I plead the fifth. But when I got to the restroom, I accidentally flushed the toilet on instinct. So I kinda have to… disappear, you see?”

“YOU BRAINDEAD IMBECILE! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?” Alex grabbed Jane, having half a mind to punch her.
