Chapter 4
by zankoo
Which apartment does Danny watch?
Barkley, 3 Right: She (Also) Has a Camera
Danny had found artistic expression and comfort as what was essentially a professional voyeur. He was a photographer, which meant it was literally his job to look through a window (of a camera) at a subject, and attempt to capture it again and again and again.
People asked him from time to time whether he liked having his own picture taken. Although he usually answered that he was indifferent to it, the truth was he despised it. The last thing he wanted was to be the subject of someone else's voyeurism. It turned the tables in a way that made his extremely uncomfortable, and whenever these moments came up, he did his best to grin and bear it.
He should have seen it coming. It was inevitable. Yet, it still surprised him, and definitely had him on edge, the first time he saw She (Also) Has a Camera looking at him from Barkley, 3 Right.
She was young, he figured. Maybe about his age. She had a decent array of equipment, from what he could see. The biggest difference between them, he thought, was that she used a camera from her window and he did not. But in the grand scheme of it, it seemed that she was essentially the mirror image of him. She stood in her apartment across the street, and watched.
