Which apartment does Danny watch?
Barkley, 3 Left: She Will Be Watched
It took Danny years to recognize that his fascination with watching people was actually relatively normal. Lots of people liked to watch, lots of people liked to be watched. It wasn't everyone, of course, so voyeurism is never 100% consensual. Honestly, he thought, if people don't know how to use their curtains, it's on them.
Most people are aware enough of their windows and their surroundings to monitor their own behavior. People know there's a window, and they know glass is see-through. Danny wasn't an exhibitionist himself, but he knew when people could see him inside his apartment, and knew when to protect himself against that possibility.
But there were some people who not only were aware of the boundaries of their own visibility, but embraced it. Danny was most certainly a voyeur -- but when he found an active exhibitionist, it became a whole new world. And the apartment at Granderson, 4 Left was utopia.
The first time he watched her, she saw him, made clear eye contact, and didn't change one shred of her behavior. That was two years ago, and since that time, they had never crossed paths in person -- only across the street, shielded by windows and distance.
She had shoulder-length brown hair, a fit body, average build, medium breasts, and maybe the most alluring and seductive eyes Danny had ever seen. He always saw so much in a woman's eyes, and She Will Be Watched was no exception. Part of what made her such a special participant in his fantasies was that she was equally comfortable performing mundane daily routines such as eating breakfast or reading a book as she was with wild and athletic sex -- and Danny had watched all of it.
Another part of her beauty was something that may or may not have been actually true, but Danny perceived it nevertheless -- and that was that she seemed to emphasize her performance when she knew she was being watched. Danny certainly didn't know what she was like when he wasn't watching, but definitely saw her energy become more electrified when she noticed him.
