Balto, from Balto

Not all popular characters in the furry fandom were anthro in the canon. A good number of them were feral animals that became so popular that people started to ogle over them, and even to turn them into anthros in their fanart and fanfictions. As a result, even these feral individuals gained their secure space in the furry community.

As it was an example of Balto. The titular character of the movie of 1995, based on the life and story of a real sledge dog from Canada of the same name. It was a popular children movie back them, and it gave birth to two sequels, both purely fictional, in which Balto himself ended up as deuteragonist, as the story focused more on his children.

Yeah, Balto was a famous name among the furry fandom, even because some fursuiters and famous furs (most of them dogs and wolves) decided to adopt the name of the famus wolfdog as their own pennames.

Now, Josh saw the very same name in the selection menu, not under the name of some guy in a fursuit or some drawing of an original character, but under the familiar face of the original Balto, the wolfdog of the movies. Now, while Josh himself was never really a fan of the movie and its sequels, he could not deny the appeal that the wolfdog had. He did liked canines, maybe a bit more than it would be consider healthy...

“I’d like to go for Balto.” Josh said, and the square with the face of the wolfdog was select, right before the entire menu disappeared. Fursona stood before Josh, before he started to change. His body changed to be with a different musculature, somewhat similar to that of a canine that pulled a sledge (but still being anthro, because of the house rules about ferals), and it became more canine-like. Soon, the figure was acquiring color, as it gained brown-gray fur on his body, with a lighter shade around his eyes and on the underside of his muzzle and down his chest and stomach, and a dark-brown on his ears. He was wearing only a pair of jeans as he stood before Josh with his bare furry chest, his amber eyes with yellow sclera looking at him.

“So, it seems I will be pulling your sldge tonight, won’t I?” Balto asked, and Josh looked at him. Balto rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah, I know that was terrible.” The wolfdog said, and he looked at the human.

“Anyway, here we are now. So, what do we do now?” he asked, “Programmed scenarios or free experience?”
