Background (Story Overview)

For this first attempt at writing a story I decided to focus on just Xander and girls. That meant I gender switched Giles and Oz to Lilah and Tara. Also, it is unclear in the show exactly how far relationships are at this point: we know Cordelia and Xander makeout a lot, and we know Xander has never had sex until Faith, but how far exactly did they go. So I set a couple of background rules for myself to start this off.

Everything is the same as the Buffyverse with the following changes/clarifications

• Lilah is Buffy’s Watcher. Like Giles, Lilah played around with dark forces in her earlier years, but was found by the Watchers before Wolfram and Hart. She plays much the same role, being an advisor to the group who also doesn’t really get them, while also having a dark side she can tap into. She became very close friends with Jenny Calendar, but nothing more than that.
• Lilah masturbates and has a collection of sex toys, but has decided her life’s calling outweighs any relationships. She has had passing sexual fantasies about Xander, but her desires are not for teen males. She did some wild sexual things during her occult years.
• Tara is Willow’s girlfriend. The starting relationship is much the same as with Oz: with Tara falling in love from almost the moment she saw Willow, but it took Willow awhile to notice her. Tara is just getting started as a witch, she is more advanced than Willow but without the raw power. Tara is a part demon, unlike the canon this is not a lie from her family, and she does need to be restrained on certain nights (I don’t think this will come up in the plot of any of the episodes we’re doing).
• Tara and Willow have not had sex. They have made out, touched each other’s breasts, and seen each other naked.
• Tara has had sex with other women and found it unsatisfying without a bond which is why she wants to wait for the right moment with Willow. Willow is aware of this.
• Lesbian relationships are not weird/discriminated against in this universe. They are still unusual and highly fetishized by men.
• Tara and Willow are both declared lesbians and not bi, but Tara is aware that Willow still has an attraction to Xander.
• Tara has never found any male attractive, but she is not disgusted by them. Willow still finds men attractive even if she denies it.
• None of the other girls, at start, are bisexual, though they’ve all at least considered what lesbian sex would be like.
• Xander and Cordelia have not had sex. Cordelia is not a virgin, but she thinks Xander is special and wants their first time to be perfect. They have made out and groped above their clothes.
• Xander: still loves Buffy, deeply cares for Cordelia, has had the occasional fantasy about Lilah, and has begun to think about Willow in a sexual way, especially with Tara mixed in.
• Buffy masturbates frequently after Slaying. Buffy has fantasized about Xander, though she views him as a friend, not a possible relationship.
• Buffy is still in love with Angel.
• Faith is not a virgin. She’s had some crazy sexual experiences, but never truly had a satisfying lover.
