Chapter 7 by Joseph Nantz Joseph Nantz

Which way does Yaz go?

Back to the TARDIS

Yaz put her arms at her sides and stared at the Master, puppeteering the nude body of the Doctor. She thought about how close she was to the TARDIS, and how she could find people who could help. Surely there was some way to reverse it? But nothing to do here.

Quick as she could, she turned around, ran to the TARDIS, yanked the door open, and-

"Maximum stun!" Barked the Master

A Dalek blast sounded out and hit her as she fell to the floor, unable to move.

"So," sneered the Master, approaching her "hardest way it is."

She picked up Yaz and brought her into the TARDIS, placing her on the floor.

"Be back in a tick, your paralysis should last long enough."

She walked over to the console, placed the TCE on it, and looked at all the little sticky notes decorating it.

"These yours? Oh, bless."

She tried to pull one off, but the TARDIS zapped her. Frowning, she thumped a few controls, and a shimmer appeared over the back doorway which led into the rest of the TARDIS.

"Now, you just wait here. I've biolocked the inner chambers so only a Time Lord can get in." She picked up the TCE and headed through the doors.

After what felt like an eternity of lying helplessly on the floor, Yaz saw the Master walk back in, wearing an extravagant red suit, complete with a silk top hat.

"So you're giving up on a nudist life through the cosmos?"

"Oh, joy, your mouth's back in commission. No, I think I still prefer that costume, but maybe it's something I have to work up to. Sometimes you've gotta dress respectably for a destination." She punched in a series of controls, then walked over to Yaz and slipped something in her pocket. "Short-range teleport. From a distance of up to 100 miles it can warp you straight back to the TARDIS. Very useful little device, I don't know why the Doctor insists on letting you all face danger so often." She gave Yaz her most convincing soft smile, which Yaz found it hard to be convinced by. "I'd just like to go test it out, first."

The Master pulled another device out of another pocket, held it up to Yaz's neck, and spritzed it. Yaz felt the feeling slowly return to her limbs and stood up carefully.

"I've also biolocked the controls, so as cute and impressive as it is that you can fly it, the TARDIS won't respond to you anymore."

Without waiting for a response, the Master turned and stepped out of the TARDIS door. After hesitating for a moment. Yaz followed. It seemed she could at least expect to keep her clothes for now.

As Yaz stepped out of the box, she was greeted by a shocking amount of applause. She looked around and realised she was standing on a stage. A stage seemingly done up for a magician's act. The Master was bowing, and she realised that they must think the TARDIS was part of the show.

"... And my assistant, the lovely, Miss Yaz!"

The Master gestured toward Yaz and suddenly all the applause was directed at her. Yaz was taken aback. She'd never had this many people cheer for her before! The cheering grew even louder as the TARDIS dematerialised, which didn't make Yaz very happy, but she knew she had a short-range transport, so she was sure she could get back if something bad happened.

The Master brought out a wheel, and asked Yaz to get in. Still on a high from the applause, Yaz stepped in and let the Master strap her in, only realising once she was in what a bad idea that was. But as the Master spun the wheel and tossed knives which stuck in the board next to her, she was shocked to find that she was perfectly safe. Eventually, the Master let her down and put her in a box. She nestled in as the Master started to stick a bunch of swords in the box, but all of them missed her, and after the swords were removed, she was let out.

"Now, ladies, and gentleman, and anyone else who happens to be here tonight, for the last trick of the show." The Master was flitting across the stage, showmanship all over her hands and face. "You've all seen my incredible disappearing cabinet, but now, a disappearing woman!"

Applause raised through the crowd again as the Master indicated a spot on the floor for Yaz to stand, and winked at her. She raised up a curtain around Yaz, and Yaz, knowing how this sort of show worked, looked down at the floor for some sort of trapdoor or something she was supposed to go through, but she couldn't spot one. She heard the Master 'casting her magic spell', and began to panic, thinking she'd ruined the show by not being observant enough, but then she remembered the short-range transport! She reached into her pocket and carefully pressed the button, seeing a shimmer of light as...

The curtain fell. The audience gasped. Yaz realised she was still on the stage. Had the transport not worked?

She glanced down.

It had worked.

It just wasn't for her.

Yaz quickly through her arms up to protect her naked body as the Master put on her best expression of puzzlement.

"Sorry, sorry, everybody! It appears something's gone just a little bit wrong with my magic." She smacked her hand against her wand a few times. "We'll have to get this right. Maybe I should try again?"

A very confused cheer started in the audience, not sure what would happen next, and the Master stood to stage right, tucked her left hand in her pocket, and raised the wand in her right hand, pointing at Yaz once more.

"Alle cwakoo!" She shouted, waving her wand at Yaz as she pressed the button on the short-range clothing teleport in her pocket. She put on a look of confusion that Yaz was still there, then looked out at the now very impressed audience. Lastly, she looked down at herself, then mimed surprise that she had been stripped entirely naked in front of the crowd. Of course, she made no move to cover herself.

"Sorry, everybody, my magic seems to be having lots of trouble today!"

The curtains closed on the stage, leaving Yaz and the Master in darkness. Yaz stalked angrily over to the Master and hissed "Where the hell are we? How many people are out there?"

"That, my dear, sweet, naked Yaz, was the Sydney Opera House at max capacity. I hope they enjoyed the show."

What's next?
