Chapter 225 by Spars2023 Spars2023

Back to Eli?

Back to Eli

I planned to reward Kianna, especially as she made it clear that Alina was very not effected by her power, even if she didn’t know about it, and provided Alina’s schedule. Which would help. It was annoying that she was at -23, meant I had to do most of the work to get her positive, without ever getting a challenge.

There were few openings in her schedule where I could believably run into her. She had groceries and food delivered, or prepared by staff, of which the family had two. She’d been complaining about the pool not working, but I wasn’t going in as the fucking poolboy. Most of her known social events circulated around the church, which I couldn’t exactly just show up at.

Not without raising questions. But, she worked out at a local, to her, and so far more expensive than my old one, gym. That was a possibility. And she ‘volunteered’ with several groups, though that was mostly just sitting around socializing and attending conferences/events/parties. There were a couple of different ins, but no decisions now. Especially with so many other priorities.

Which was only driven home as Diamond informed me that there was a fundraiser being run by the Arkham board on Friday, which Penelope and Alyce would both be at. Jasmine would be going, but Diamond seemed to think she could get us in as well, though I’d need to go as Jasmine’s ‘friend.’ Otherwise Diamond’s involvement might be a bit suspicious and we didn’t want to reveal anything to the larger society.

Diamond was setting it up, with Jasmine going along to try to help him, since he’d turned down the job offer, trying to protect him. That was actually quite sweet. My own plans for this evening fell through, as apparently Kianna had a late shift, as she’d switched to be able to get to the event to visit Alina. My backup also fell through, as Asa was apparently negotiating some sort of shoot with another influencer and Diamond was still working late.

Romy hadn’t earned a reward, Jenna…I still hadn’t gotten over the whole ‘built a **** dungeon’ thing. Rapetoy was, when I checked the app (and thank goodness I didn’t just pop into her head) submitting to one of her former victims to help her get the information I’d asked for on Jay. I didn’t need to experience that. Kat was working on a police sergeant. And Skin was prepping Asa’s new studio, which she apparently had all planned, without mentioning it to me, along with a nicer place.

Even with a harem the size of the one I had, that didn’t mean someone was always available. Yet. I could have overridden any of those things, but that would have felt…wrong. So, instead, I spent the afternoon driving around, pinging, searching for Bridgette. No luck.

But after I stopped at a nice restaurant for a moderately expensive dinner, which was an indulgence I shouldn’t have wasted cash on, but I would be fine. More than fine. I did get a ping later, but it wasn’t Bridgette. Well, in fact, I got a few, but most were just women going about their business, one was me accidentally driving past Jewelz’s apartment, which I knew about, but hadn’t bothered to remember. The interesting one was Selina Kyle, AKA Catwoman.

She was in a high rise. I waited for a bit outside, to see if she stuck around, which she did. Which suggested this wasn’t just a robbery. Belatedly, it occurred to me that I could probably just look her up in the phonebook, or the digital equivalent thereof, as I knew her real identity.

But then again, everyone knew Batman had a tech genius on his side and Catwoman was a sometime ally, would that trigger something? Paranoia was becoming a way of life, which I was okay with, so long as it kept me alive. The map was 2D, so I wasn’t sure where in the building she was. But then I looked more closely and noticed it gave me a ‘distance to target’ input as well.

Eyeballing the distance to the building, which I sure as fuck wasn’t parking just outside, even though it was only a nice building, with a doorman, rather than a nice building with private security, I pulled out some old high school geometry, the good old Pythagorean Theorem, I knew the hypotenuse and had a good guess for the base, so calculating the height was easy enough. To my utter lack of surprise, it came out as the penthouse. If she wasn’t in the basement, it probably had to be the penthouse for easy roof access.

I carefully noted that down, though I sure as hell wasn’t going to try ‘accidentally’ running into Catwoman. That had **** written all over it, still the information might be useful…and in the long run, well, she was just another criminal, in need of redemption, right?

Right?
