When I enter the room they are in, I immediately realize they will be fine. Craig is in bed, topless and with a lot of bandages around his chest. He’s athletic, sure. But not muscled like Roland.

Leonora, his girlfriend, has joined him and is hugging him. Her chest armor has been removed, leaving her in her bra, and she has bandages on her upper right arm. But I can’t find Mimizu anywhere.

“Hey guys.” I say as I enter the room. “I thought Mimizu was with you.”

“She went to the bathroom.” Leonora says without letting go of her man. “She deserves her break. She spent so much time taking care of my hero.”

After praising her mouse beastkind friend, Leonora kisses Craig a few times on his lips.

“So, what happened? How did it all start?” I ask.

“It was an ambush.” Craig explains. “We were all surprised. Or rather. There is one of us who noticed something was off.”

Suddenly, I see something moving underneath the sheets, until a little marten comes out and crawls into Craig’s lap.

“Little Mira here looked towards the trees and gave a few squeaks. That’s how she warned me something was going on there.” Craig explains while he starts petting his marten. “I looked in the same direction and saw a glint between the bushes. So, I pushed Leonora out of the way just as 2 arrows flew at us. One hit Leonora in the arm, the other hit me in my side.”

“Told you. Total hero. Saved my life.” Leonora says. “All thanks to his little sidekick.”

Then Leonora also starts petting Mira. Aww, they look so happy that they are giving me ideas again. Ideas of me topless in Darx’s bed while he too is topless. Hugging and kissing and on our way to do more. But he is still at home, training.

That’s when Mimizu comes in.

“Hey guys. Oh, Mia. You’re here too.” Mimizu says. “You know, you should come downstairs if you’re able. They’re having a feast for us.”

“A feast?” Craig asks. “But we’ve done nothing for them.”

Mimizu smirks and says, “You two may not have done much, but Mia, Roland and Merlara completed 2 quests in the meanwhile.”

“Woah, 2 of them?” Leonora asks.

“Yeah, and if Merlara has her way, rooms and meals will be on the house.” I tell them.

“Now get dressed you 2.” Mimizu interjects. “Craig is going to need a few good meals to get his strength back up.”

Mimizu and I both help Craig and Leonora to get their chest armors back on. Then we help Craig down the stairs. Lots of villagers have already gathered to celebrate. They have a lot of reason to. The beetles and frogs both harmed their economy. Thanks to us, they will make a lot more profit now. We also brought a caravan of merchants with us. And once the villagers come back with all the frog meat Merlara left them, they’ll have food for goddess knows how many days.

After the meal, we all have a good chat with many of the villagers. Except for Merlara. But she’s got a habit of being the quiet one. I did notice only 1 guy heading over to talk to her. I guess that at least the helmet succeeds at keeping most guys off her.

Leonora stays close enough to Craig that she doesn’t have a lot of guys heading her way. Mimizu on the other hand, gets attention from both guys and girls. Well, she’s single so, she’s allowed to find herself a fling if she wants to.

When it starts getting dark the inn keeper decides to light some candles, but I offer to do it for him. Because then I can show off to everyone what neat trick I can do with my fingers. You should have seen their faces when they saw me walking around with flames on the tips of my fingers.

Unfortunately, I may have drawn a little too much attention to myself, for one of the guys starts chatting me up. I know he’s a creep, because he talks to me the same way Kase talked to all the girls. I told him I couldn’t because I had a boyfriend waiting for me.

Then the guy smugly said, “What he doesn’t know can’t hurt him, right?”

I smirk at him, grope his butt, give it a good squeeze and just when he thought he had me in the bag, I light a fire under his ass. Serves him right for trying to make me cheat on Darx.

But when night comes, the inn keeper has some bad news. He doesn’t have enough rooms for all of us. Craig and Leonora definitely need separate rooms to rest. But with all the merchants that have joined us here, the rest of our party needs to share rooms.

Roland joked about sharing a room with Merlara, but she had another sarcastic comment for him. Seriously, Roland, take the hint and try your moves on Mimizu instead. She’s cute enough for you.

But no, Merlara and Mimizu are going to share room and bed. Which means I will have to sleep in the same bed as Roland. If Roland is any bit as careful as he was at the river, I guess it’s fine. But if he tries anything, he better hopes Mimizu is able to treat burn wounds.

When it was time for us to get changed, I told Roland to wait outside.

“Come on, Mia.” Roland Joked. “It’s not as if we haven’t already bathed together.”

I point my index finger at the door, even add a little flame with some fire magic and yell, “Out!”

Roland of course listened immediately, but was laughing on his way out. To his credit, it actually was a funny joke. I just hope he didn’t see me smile.

While I do strip out of my armor, I make certain to keep my lingerie on. No way I’m going to be nude in bed with another guy. Not even if it’s just for sleeping. I am not going to cheat on my man.

Once I am undressed and in bed, I call out to Roland that he can get in. He enters the room and starts stripping out of his armor. Slowly the armor pieces come off, like when he prepared to bathe in the lake. Again, I get to have a good look at his well-toned muscles. 3 months from now, when Darx has had his awakening and has joined the Gryphon Knights, I’m going to have to ask Roland about his training schedule. Then I can have Darx work out in the same way and enjoy those same kinds of muscles on my man. Goddess, just thinking about a muscled Darx is getting me wet.

I insisted Roland to keep his underwear on when he got into bed.

I also told him, “You better sleep with your back turned to me, cause I am not taking the risk of waking up the next day with a morning wood poking my ass.

“Fine. No worries. I’ll turn away.” Roland says. “By the way, when it’s cold during the night, feel free to steal some body heat from me. Though I will refuse to take responsibility for any wood if you do end up pressing your boobs on my back.”

I swear, men are all the same. Then again, if it was Darx lying next to me, I would absolutely hug my breasts against his back while hoping to lure out his biggest and hardest wood for me to play with. God dammit, Darx. You not being here with me is going to end up driving me crazy. If only I had taken your letters with me, instead of leaving them at my room in the guild hall.

Even though I have a guy sleeping next to me. I fall asleep feeling all alone.

That night, I sleep light. I constantly relive that moment where the archer almost killed me, causing me to wake up. Pfft, looks like that moment put me a lot more on edge than I thought it did.

Eventually, I wake up with light already shining through the window. Might as well get out of bed.

I crawl out of the bed, trying my best not to wake up Roland and … ah, crap. My clothes are still on the side that Roland is facing. I sneak over and put on my clothes, hoping that he’s not pretending to be asleep so he can take a peek at me. After I’m dressed, I head down stairs.

I wait around in the dining room for the others. Merlara and Mimizu arrive together, shortly followed by Roland. Sometime after that, Leonora and Craig come down together.

While we are eating breakfast, Merlara reminds Roland and I that we need to go pick up those beetle shells. Mimizu says she wants to look around in search for plants to replenish her supply of potions. She had to use up a lot of mana potions until she had cast enough heals on Craig to enable him to drink healing potions. Leonora and Craig are going to stay in the inn to heal while Merlara is going to visit the village leader to collect the quest rewards.

Roland and I manage to borrow a cart and horse from one of the villagers. It really helps to have the memory of both successful quests fresh on their mind. We take the trip back to the beetle nest and start collecting all the shells.
