Back at the cave

Zack stood bemused at the sight of Heather walking around touching all the fire motifs in the cave. “Find anything?” Zack asked amusedly. Heather didn’t answer as she continued to touch the walls until she suddenly stopped in front of one particular view of fire.

“Zack come over here.” She said as Zack made his way over. “Put your ear against the wall, tell me if you hear anything.” She said excitedly. Zack grew curious about Heather’s reason for excitement and did as she said. “Ok, here goes.” She let out a deep breath and pressed a spot in the middle of the fire. Zack jumped back from the wall as he heard a faint click emanating from within the wall.

“Holy shit! What was that?!” Zack exclaimed.

“No idea, but I intend to find out.” Heather said excitedly. “Stay there, tell me what happens when I do this.” She said as she touched the next painting of fire in the middle.” Zack heard another click and a shifting behind the wall.

“I think you’re onto something here Heather. Get the others quickly before someone comes waltzing in for another smoke.” Zack said. Heather went around touching the middle of the other fire symbols on the wall, and after each one Zack heard a slightly louder shift and click behind the wall, until after the final one the wall slowly rumbled open revealing a pitch black passage beyond. Zack and Heather stood there awestruck at the suddenly visible passage beyond. “You don’t happen to have a light do you?” Zack asked nervously staring into the darkness.

“Nope. We’ll just have to make our own way.” Heather said as she took the first step towards the darkness joining Zack as they stared into the abyss. “You first?” She asked hopefully. Zack smiled at her and took a step and plunged down into darkness below. “Zack!” Heather shouted not getting a response. “Oh well, hopefully I fall on something soft.” She said as she jumped down as well.
