Fifi opened the doors to the living room and stepped to the side to let Hellen in. The tables and windowsills had been dusted neatly. Hellen walked up to the shelves and moved some of the books and discovered that they had only been dusted on the surface. The floors had been broomed but not washed which meant there were a few spots dusty and dirty. Hellen felt a bit disappointed but considering the time it her husband had it wasn’t a bad job.

“It is passable for your first day. Make sure to be thorough with the shelves and don’t simply sweep the floor next time, wash it too.” She sighed.

Mark looked down at her feet and stayed quiet. He had thought he had done a good job. He didn’t know why but he had hoped for a compliment or reward but instead he had gotten a cold response and some pointers.

Hellen walked back to the door, standing before a disappointed maid.

“I will do better next time madam.”

Hellen made an agreeable grunt before speaking. “On another note, I have allocated the sleeping arrangements for now. Follow me.”

Mark watched with a confused look as Hellen walked up the stairs ahead of him. He wondered what she meant by that. Hadn’t she already chosen a room for them to sleep in?

Mark followed her up the stairs with relative ease considering the heels. At the first door to the right, he saw an open bedroom door with some boxes inside. Hellen, however, continued walking down the hall until they stood before a set of big wooden doors. Hellen opened them and walked into the biggest bedroom Mark had ever seen. It was on the old-fashioned side but had a regal edge to it. He could tell it hadn’t been cleaned in a bit but he could tell that Hellen had cleaned up the bed so they could sleep in it.

“This is where I will be sleeping from now on, I will order some food for you to serve me and then I will entertain myself in the living room. I expect you to clean the kitchen tonight and tomorrow you are to accompany me as I explore my new property.” Hellen tried her best to speak as much as she thought a rich woman with a maid would sound like, but she may have sounded a bit daft.

Mark in the meantime was trying to process what had been said, he was getting a bit nervous from all the roleplay. “Uhm… Madam, if you don’t mind me asking, where am I to sleep tonight?”

“You may have seen the room at the staircase, which will be your room until we find a more suitable place for your stature on the ground floor.” Hellen stated coldly.

Hellen notices that Fifi has a confused and worried look on her face as she looks back and forth between the bed, herself, and the hallway.
