Aurelie tries to swim to the surface

The redhead was sinking through the green water. Feeling the panic grow inside her heart, she began to swim up as fast as she could, using her free arms like paddles, undulating her legs, her whole body, like fish. Aurelie was a good swimmer and she managed to stop her downward drift once she had found how to move her partially bound body in the most efficient way. Her hands touched the surface, tracing arcs of silvery bubbles as she tried to propel herself upwards.

However she had never swam with six pounds of chain wrapped around her ankles, and another six pounds around her neck. That slowed the movement of her legs, that pulled her down. Her arms began to tire, her lungs began to burn, her movements began to slow down and the irreversibly the surface began to rise above her, away from her, despite her most frantic efforts. The burning in her lungs grew more painful, the craving for air more urgent. Only by sheer willpower did she resist the need to breathe in, as that would only fill her chest with sea water.
