What's next?
Audrey Looks... Different
When I make it back to my desk, I can't help but let out a sigh of relief. I've always been a fairly independent person. I mean, with how many parents raised me, how could I not be? For the most part, I find I do much better when I'm just left alone to do my own thing. I don't bother you, you don't bother me, you know? So the idea of spending more time with my coworkers isn't a thought that really appeals to me. It just sounds exhausting. And so far, it seems like it has been. After dealing with Carmen and Rae separately, then having to scramble to sort out how their new quirks interact with each other, it's just been a lot to deal with. Not to mention I'm still kind of iffy on how I feel about what I did with Rae. Yeah, it felt incredible, it's just... I don't know. It also felt wrong.
I try my best to relax and put everything else out of my mind, but that proves difficult when a certain busty brunette appears before me.
"Hi! Did you miss me?" Luck asks with a smile.
"Are you sure you want to know the answer to that question?" I fire back with an eyebrow raised.
"You can pretend all you want, but I know I'm your best friend," Luck claims confidently.
She's welcome to believe that if she wants to. Not like she'd listen if I told her otherwise anyway. Though, to her credit, she doesn't have a ton of competition.
"Seems like you were away for a while," I note.
"Well, I've been pretty busy. Let me tell you, I'm really excited for you to see what I did to Audrey! I feel like I really outdid myself with this one! She may have been a fun character before, but now I doubt there's anyone out there quite like her!" Luck explains in excitement.
I don't know if I'd call Audrey "fun." She and Luck certainly have some traits in common though. That's why I was dreading them meeting each other. Neither one seems afraid to flaunt their bodies, and they love teasing people. They're also both very comfortable with their sexualities. A little too comfortable if you ask me. The main difference I can see (aside from Luck being some kind of high being with supernatural abilities, that is) is that Audrey has this hidden nastiness to her, while Luck seems to always be a genuinely positive person. Nothing ever seems to upset the otherworldly woman, but the same can't be said for the blonde saleswoman. If you do something to piss her off, she may keep a smile on her face, but she'll make sure you know to never cross her again.
"She should be coming any minute now. Knowing you, you probably won't do what you need to do to see my handiwork today, but that's okay. And who knows? Maybe you'll surprise me. We'll find out soon enough," Luck chuckles as she sits down in her chair and relaxes.
The hell is that supposed to mean? I already had no idea what to expect, but now I'm just completely baffled. She kind of makes it sound like Audrey is going to have some kind of trigger like Carmen, only I have to be the one to activate it. Although, even that is unclear. And why does she think I won't be able to do whatever it is she wants me to? In all honesty, part of me wants to try and prove her wrong, but that's probably what she's trying to do. Get me all riled up so I'll try something I wouldn't otherwise.
Well, whatever. I told myself I would try not to overthink this stuff anymore, so I won't. Instead I decide to check my computer to see if there's anything else I can get done before Audrey shows up. Luck rolls her chair beside mine and looks over my shoulder to see what I'm doing. I'm always impressed with how she constantly seems interested in even the most mundane things.
After about ten minutes pass, I hear it once again: that familiar knocking sound. Well, I guess that means it's time. Let's see if I can figure out what Luck did that she's so proud of...

Uh...
Hmm...
Okay, this one is confusing to me. Clearly something about Audrey has changed. And yet, for some reason... I can't seem to put my finger on what it is. Well, there is one thing I can notice a clear difference in. While her hips look about as wide as they were before, her breasts are now much larger to match, giving her a well-defined hourglass figure. But there's something else. It's like her skin almost looks... smoother now? Is that the word I'm looking for? And despite her larger assets, something about her just seems to be lacking in... dimension. Does that make sense? I don't know. There's definitely a difference though, I can tell that much.
Also, are her ears pointed now? What, is she supposed to be like an elf or something? Maybe that's what's throwing me off. Whatever it is, she seems to be enjoying the way my eyes trace over her body as I examine her. There's no doubt that she still loves attention as much as before. That much hasn't changed. As she holds her seductive pose in an attempt to get me to keep gawking over her, I lean over to my self-appointed assistant.
"Luck? What exactly am I looking at?" I ask her in a hushed voice.
"Uh oh..." is the only response I get.
Uh oh?! What the fuck does "uh oh" mean?!
"What did you do?" I groan.
"Perhaps I was a bit ambitious with this one..." Luck admits with embarrassment. "I think I messed up somewhere along the way, because she's not supposed to look like that yet. That's what I get for letting you distract me with all that stuff in the bathroom while I was in the middle of working on her."
How is this my fault? I still can't even really tell what's going on right now.
"You guys know I'm right here, don't you?" Audrey calls out, regaining both of our attention. She laughs before taking a step towards us. "I know I'm a fascinating topic of discussion, but you should really wait until I'm gone before talking about me."
Even in this strange new form, Audrey seems just as flirty and in-control of her body as she always is. As is typical of these physical transformations, she's totally unaware that anything is different. Still, it's an impressive feat considering that my brain is having trouble interpreting what is even going on with her body right now. I can't imagine what it would be like to actually pilot it.
"Uh... sorry, Audrey. Did you need something?" I ask in an attempt to refocus myself.
"I just wanted to check to make sure you finished with those emails. Surely you didn't disappoint me, did you?" Audrey puffs up her lips and makes a pouty face.
I choose to ignore her obvious attempt to manipulate me and confirm that I did what I was told. Audrey isn't thrilled at my disinterest, but eventually decides to let it go and just check my work, since apparently I can't just be taken at my word. Once she confirms it's all done (and doesn't seem to notice that Rae did some of it, thank goodness), she seems satisfied.
"Wow! Good job! I knew you had it in you," she praises while condescendingly patting me on the cheek.
Feeling her skin on mine is an odd sensation. She really does feel smoother than before. Almost as if she's made out of porcelain or something. Because of that, I half expected her hand to feel cold for some reason, but if anything, her touch is a little warmer than normal. Even as she lets go, there's a tingling sensation that lingers on my face. Weird. Not the worst thing ever, but weird. Doesn't mean I'm any more comfortable with her touching me though.
"Anyway, here," Audrey continues as she hands me a thick folder full of various documents. "This is all the paperwork from my sales today. Enter it into the system and file everything away in it's proper place. And remember, we're trying to avoid any major mistakes from now on. Okay? Okay."
Audrey's body may look totally different (though I still have no trouble identifying that it's her, which creates a strange feeling of dissonance), but I don't see any noticeable differences in her behavior. She's still just as patronizing, coquettish, and insincere as ever. It's possible I just haven't been in the right situation to get something new to come out, but given that it sounds like Luck did something wrong when working on her, it's impossible to know for sure.
"Alright, you two. I'll head out so you can get back to your discussion on how beautiful and amazing I am," Audrey says with another airy giggle. The blonde woman than spins around on her toes with a surprising amount of grace for even her. Now facing away from us, she looks back over her shoulder at Luck. "Oh, and Luck. I enjoyed that little bit of girl talk we had earlier. I hope that's not the last time we can get to know each other better."
"Oh, believe me, I think we're going to get to know each other very well, very soon," Luck responds, all the awkwardness she had a few moments ago now completely gone.
"I can't wait..." Audrey says in a heavy tone with half-lidded eyes. These two need to get a room. Actually, I take it back. That sounds like a horrible idea.
I keep my mouth shut as Audrey sashays through the room. However, as soon as she disappears from sight, I glare at Luck with annoyance.
"So, do you want to explain what's going on, or...?"
"Like I said, I think taking a break in the middle of adjusting Audrey caused some slight hiccups, but it's nothing to worry about. I can fix it," Luck tries to assure me, though I'm not convinced. "Think of it this way: it's kind of like you got a sneak peek of what's to come. Isn't that fun?"
"You say that, but I'm still having trouble putting into words what exactly you did," I tell her.
"Yeah, I guess I can see how this one might be especially confusing for you. Let's just see this form is a bit more on the... animated side," Luck replies.
"What? You mean like, she's supposed to be more lively? I guess she does seem to have a bit more pep in her step. And that spin move at the end was certainly something," I admit, though I'm still not totally satisfied with that answer.
"Um... sure. We'll go with that. I'm positive other people out there know what I really mean anyway."
I have no idea what she means by "other people out there," but something tells me if I ask her for more details, she'll only give a more confusing response. So instead, I decide to just tell it like it is.
"You don't make any sense sometimes, you know that?"
Luck simply laughs at my blunt comment, which is about as helpful of a reply as I was expecting. Since I'm not going to get any more out of that, I decide to turn my attention to the paperwork Audrey just gave me. The work day is almost over, so it's probably in my best interest is to just try and knock this out as quickly as possible so I can go home.
