Did Tegan Just Get Played?
Audience Side Quest: Nerd Things
The Show-Runner
So, I have been preparing for the big Andy wedding with my extra writing time. I am not 100% sure when the giant crossover event is going to start, but I know that (probably) every other branch writer that is participating will be getting the collab audience bounty for it. I am not going to say that absolutely, as we would need to actually collaborate, but I have seen the tentative event schedule. I have a lot of collabs on the docket.
A request for opportunities for non-branch writers to get more points/coupons have been made and heard. So, let us call this an experiment to give readers a chance to earn a coupon.
Just like I am rolling dice for the delves and challenges as if I was playing every role in a DnD session, I am physically playing the games for the Andromeda Leylines scenes. Fortunately or unfortunately, the vast majority of the decks I own are Commander decks; outside of Commander, I got a single rogue Pauper deck, a single dumb Pioneer deck I assembled when that format was first announced and haven't updated it since, and I just finished assembling a weird rogue budget Modern deck. So, Commander games are the only thing I can readily simulate.
As seen in the previous chapter, I experimented with a Commander / Canadian Highlander hybrid format. I kind of think it works (more from the second match I played through from this one). So, as I find places to slip them in, there are going to be games between Andromeda (or Winter) and staff.
While Tina's deck is a joke (she continues to play the same stock pre-con from when she was in high school), the other five staff members that I am currently planning on using for these 1v1 games are going to use decks that exist in my collection. So, the goal of the exercise is to correctly identify the color identity of each deck. For your guessing purposes, here are your clues:
- The four staff members are Tyalangan, Alex, Daphne, Mattie, and Scarlet. Aelene also plays, but I don't have a deck that feel like her.
- Neither of the color identities of the decks that Tyalangan (WUG) and Mattie (RUG) used during Andromeda's first date are in the pool.
- Four decks are two color; One deck is three colors.
- Of the five colors of magic (White, Blue, Black, Red, and Green), two colors are used twice, two colors are used thrice, and one color is not used at all.
For each staff member you correctly identify the deck's color identity, you will get 5% off on a single audience shop item added to a coupon. The more you get correct, the bigger the coupon (in other words, one coupon per participant, provided you get at least one guess correct). If you happen to guess correctly, that’s a 25% off an audience store coupon. If you can identify the commander too, I'll double the value of that deck's coupon. So, you somehow get all 5 decks correctly identified, that is a half off coupon.
You got until next publication push to submit your guesses, either here in the comments or in the in-game messaging system.
And one final nerdy thing, I want to test the internal poll function. Soooo....
