Attempt a heroic leap
You shake your head. You test the balance of the boat. Unnaturally steady, it barely sways as you shift her weight. Laughing at the two Minervals on the shore, who hug their cloaks tight against the cool afternoon, you step up onto the rear plank seat.
"She's not going to, is she?" the tall, black-haired one says.
"She is!" her blonde companion says. She cups her hands to her mouth. "YOU'LL NEVER MAKE IT, YOU KNOW!"
In three strides, you spring from one seat to the next and leap for shore.
