At a glance, the rope seems sturdy enough to easily swing over the gap.

You approach the edge of the stairs and peer down the spiraling tower. Far down below you can see into the pit at the bottom, wreathed in shadowy fumes. It's a very long way down... but the rope dangling over it seems sturdy enough to let you climb up past the gap in the stairs.

You make a running leap over the pit and grab onto the rope, filled with relief as the rope holds fast. You were half certain it would rot away within your grasp! But your relief is short lived as you feel the rope sliding down under your weight. Then-

BOOONGG!!!

A thunderous ringing fills the entire tower! You wince as the noise startles you so badly you almost let go of the rope! You recall seeing the bell from outside of the tower, but it hadn't occurred to you that the rope was still attached to it..! The bell's swinging starts pulling you back up, and the constant rising and falling is making it hard to dismount the rope. You just need the right moment to swing across - your presence is no doubt known, but you can still salvage this if you act quickly and hide.

As you look for a chance to swing to safety, you feel a firm thud against your backside. Leathery wings wrap around your torso and pin you to the rope! Has the succubus found you already?! Craning your head back, you can just make out a grinning face over your shoulder, pale skinned with red eyes and frazzled white hair. Most troubling are her gleaming fangs, poised just above your exposed neck. So she isn't a succubus, but a batgirl - unfortunately for you, that doesn't seem to be much better at the moment.

Before you can react, the bat girl sinks her fangs into your neck! Stinging pain shoots through your neck as you shudder, trying desperately to keep your hold on the rope. As treacherous as the batgirl is, you are sure that plunging into the pit below would be even worse. You try to shake her off, but the bat girl's wings are bound tightly around you and won't relent.
