At An Office Party

For the holidays, my boss always throws a party, providing snacks and beverages, alcoholic and non alcoholic alike. It's one of those things that while you're not legally speaking obligated to go, you kinda have to go to in order to climb the corporate ladder. Typically, I go, drink some of your boss' amazing rainbow sherbet punch, chat with people, and then head home within an hour. For the past five years, my strategy has worked simply and effectively, allowing me to go for just long enough for her to be happy with me, and then duck out to literally anywhere else (which is where I'd rather be).

This year, however, things didn't go exactly as planned.
