Chapter 13 by fenharel fenharel

What do you ask for?

Ask them for information

Considering you were spawned in a frozen wasteland with no idea just where you were, how far the heroines were, and no nearby sentient monsters, you were essentially moving blind. The last thing you wanted was to formally ally yourself with the forces of light or dark without knowing where you were. Furthermore, Rohan and Asriana were part of an army detachment of several thousand strong. Abducting all of them and having your way with them like your species was prone to do was just asking for trouble. It was far smarter to continue slowly amassing power and influence.

"I have three demands." You say.

"Speak." Rohan answers.

"Just as I shall not harm you, you shall not harm me." You state.

"It is done." Rohan answers.

"You shall not invite others to harm me, and when our business is concluded, you shall not rally to attack me in the future." You add as Rohan nods in understanding.

"That is a fair demand as well." He continues.

"I wish to speak to you regarding the world beyond my domain." You utter as Rohan crosses his arms and stares at the ground, likely assuming that to be your "true" body.

"And why do you desire such a thing?" He asks cautiously.

"Since time immemorial, I have been undisturbed, and now forces of the light and dark infringe upon my land. I wish to know who intends to do me harm." You answer.

"Time immemorial? How long have you been in this realm?" Rohan asks.

"Am I to answer your questions, or are you to answer mine?" You ask, unwilling to speak any further.

"So be it." Rohan answers. "I've sworn to uphold my end of the bargain. Do I have your word you shall uphold yours?"

"My word is my bond. I shall fulfill my own end of the bargain now." You say as you ready your many monster cores to begin working. You direct several of your monster cores to begin hunting the local monsters and transporting the corpses to the elven camp. Another of your cores is directed to begin growing your body into house shaped trees, the interior heated by your own body temperature. Finally, you direct the last of your cores to begin treating the injured elves, injecting them with healing potions while excavating an underground reservoir to create a new organ pouch to fill with healing potions to submerge the more severely injured soldiers. While all this occurs, your mind is still focused on the conversation at hand.

"Tell me, elf, why have you come to my mountain?" You ask cautiously.

"A new demon king has arisen, hoping to reunite the demonic armies once more. Our duty was to support them in battle, but we were repelled by the Demon Army's Court Mage." Rohan answered as you thought over his words. The forces of darkness were weaker than the forces of light, but they still outclassed baseline soldiers. If you remember right, the Demon Court Mage, Leraje, was someone specialized in prolonged battles due to her ability to recycle mana. Why would she stop at just collapsing rubble?

"She repelled you to this land?" You ask, hoping to find out why such a monster would hold back.

"There was a forked canyon further south from here. One side leads to the demon king's territory, the other path led to your lands. Rather than fight us, she collapsed the canyons leading to both the demon lands and the entrance. We were a small detachment that could escape the canyon before the last exit was sealed off." He answered as you thought over the tactic. If the armies were sealed in, then they were the perfect bait for a trap.

"So this group is a mere detachment from a greater army?" You ask.

"Yes. Our army in the region numbers in the low hundred thousands." Rohan answers.

"I see." You answer, thinking over just how screwed you are. Rohan was significantly stronger than you already. An entire army filled with elves equal to, or stronger than him would get you killed. For now, you had to suppress your more bestial instincts and play nice.

"Tell me, do the forces of light or dark have any interest in claiming my land when this is over?" You ask as Rohan shakes his head.

"No, your territory is far too remote and dangerous to be claimed by either side. I will also be writing a report warning all people to avoid this land." He added.

"Do you have any plans to clear the rubble from the southern canyons to free your comrades?" You ask, hoping to hear they had no such plans. Instead, Rohan straightened his back and spoke with pure reverence, almost as though he were a priest speaking a sermon.

"The spirits of the wind say the heroines are coming to this region to free us." Rohan answered, your heart sinking as he spoke.

Heroines. Plural. Just one of those beasts could crush you. Having several of them at the same location was the single worst possible scenario for you. Plus, judging by Melanoches' explanation, even if the forces of the demon king rallied together in your defense, they'd lose. Having only the demon king's court mage fight them would lead to her inevitable demise. With her demise would ultimately lead to your demise. You almost want to laugh at how terrible your adventure was going.

Between the frozen ice mountain of monsters in the 4 digit level range, your inability to read the documents regarding your body's creation, spawning next to an entire army of light, and how quickly the heroes found you, you are unsure whether it was Melanoche, Carnachias, Ariel, or your own shoddy luck causing you to suffer.

"... I see." You answer in a solemn voice, realizing just how badly RNG had screwed you. Sensing your change in tone, Rohan speaks up.

"You have my word that we shall not permit them to harm you." He reassures, suddenly realizing the danger he was in. Without your help, he and his army were doomed.

"You speak as though you hold power over them." You say almost mockingly, realizing that the game was over before it even began.

"We shall not speak of your presence." Rohan countered.

"And if I am discovered anyway?" You ask, thinking back to the heroine's status. She had far more Angel Blessings and Divine Miracles than you, and could easily just use God's Eye to identify you. One look at your name would be enough to set off alarms. Another look at your skills would be grounds for having the area nuked from orbit.

"We will speak in your favor. If need be, fight as well." Rohan answered, his voice genuine.

"Fight?" You asked, surprised.

"We do not repay kindness with cruelty. You could have left my captain to perish, but you aided them while asking for nothing in return, not to mention the aid you offer now." Rohan said as Asriana's face turned red from embarrassment. It seemed Asriana talked about you saving her, but not about what she did for you in return.

"Then I will trust you will honor your word." You answer, thinking up a plan to survive.

The heroines arrive. How do you play this?
