As well as can be expected

I step out of Evelyn's office, still fuming about what I just found out, and go to help Maddie finish opening. Maddie looks at me, and her hair immediately shifts to a greyish blue. Before she can say anything, I just hold up my hand, "I'll tell you on the way home." She doesn't look happy about that, but she leaves it be for now, and we get back to work.

Today's shift goes largely the same as yesterdays, though I notice Evelyn seems a bit more subdued in her performance. Plus, the one time I catch her looking at me she darts her gaze away and blushes pretty heavily. Despite my anger, that still makes me chuckle, as it just further pushes the image of her as a tsundere.

I've calmed down a little bit by the time our shift is over, though more than anything I just feel drained. I hate getting angry like that, it really drains me. As we are wrapping up, Evelyn comes up to us, saying "You two can go ahead and go home, I'll handle this all tonight." She seems genuinely upset about what happened, and there's a lot of cleaning left to do, but right now I really need some time to breathe. I politely accept, and am out the door almost before Maddie can agree. She hurries after me, catching up to be walking by my side.

She looks at me, and before she can even ask, I say "Apparently Evelyn used her tits to hypnotize me at our discussion after work yesterday." I then proceed to explain what Kurumu said, and how Evelyn confirmed it all.

By the time I'm done, Maddie's eyes are wide with shock, and she just says "That bitch! After how nice you've been to her?!?" She shakes her head, "I'm impressed you had the self control to wait after she said you could buy something without her approval, though."

I shook my head back at her, "You know I don't stay angry long, and I knew if I did something right then and there I would have ended up regretting it." I take a deep breath, "I'll look around some tonight, see what I can find, but I won't buy it till I can talk with her again with a more level head."

She gives me a sidelong glance, and responds "Well, I may be able to help with that. I have a bit of a surprise for you, after we get back," she winks at me.

"Oh?" I ask, "Is it one that will let us finish up what we started this morning?" She giggles, and tells me I'm just going to have to wait and find out. Feeling better, I have a bit of a smile the rest of our walk home.
