As a disaster

Things were not looking good for the gnome inventor. Waking up from a dreamless and shallow sleep Beatrice found a small bundle of letters that were slid under the door of her room.

begrudgingly getting up to examine them she found letter after letter of rejection for her newest invention. Sadly she knew it was coming after her latest failure of a presentation.

The inventor worked on a portable shield generator, The main purpose of it was to be used in the battle to protect any injured soldiers or civilians that were caught in the crossfire of conflict.

everything was going wonderfully the design didn’t have any flaws when it came to the power source or generating a small shield but in her rush to complete it before the presentation she neglected to test it out on a living person.

The presentation itself ended up generating a fair amount of publicity with even Paladins from some prestigious human to order came by to observant themselves.

At first everything was going well, the extensive foot notes on her papers as well as the talk itself was perfect, It was only during the presentation that things went horribly south. Needing a volunteer she ended up picking one of the human paladins and after explaining how she was simply going to toss the cylinder like object at him for it to activate he happily agreed to it.

However things did not go as expected.
