Arakarin's story (maybe)
Arakarin
Arakarin will be narrating this page
"Pardon the cliched beginning, but once upon a time, i was a human being. Or so i was told for my first twelve years of life. On my former body's twelfth birthday, the ones who combined their genes to create it told me the truth about my existence. It seems the life i was leading was neither my first nor my true one. But i suppose i should start earlier.
"Those two, my...'parents'...were childless, and **** to break what seemed to be a curse on them. They prayed to Utoness for a child, but she turned a deaf ear to them. Not only that, she also cursed them a second time with an illness that cut both of their times down to only fifteen years. Still, they pleaded with her to grant them a single son or daughter, so they could die knowing their line would not end with them. But it seems Utoness is not the kind, benevolent goddess the people say she is. She denied them time after time. Their lives seemed hopeless, and they resigned themselves to their fates, full of regret.
"But then, fortune granted them a chance. A wandering blind oracle told them that they could have their son, and that he would become strong and healthy when he became an adult. They were overjoyed, and asked how it was possible. She gave them a book, an ancient tome of only three pages.
" 'Inside this book is a spell that will summon for you the child you desire. Use it, and become happy,' she told them. For two years, they learned to use the spell. Having almost no previous magical skill, except a bit of knowledge of alchemy, they had to learn it from nothing. But the day came when they were ready to use it. On that day, in the middle of a glyph as old as the very first mage himself, 'i' was born. The couple took 'me' home and raised 'me' to twelve years of age.
"But, as i said, on the twelfth anniversary of the spell, they told me the truth of 'myself', and showed me the spell that had brought that 'me' into existence. Having dabbled a bit in magic, i was able to tell instantly what it was. When they created 'me', they essentially created a homunculus using their blood and other materials, then filled it with the wandering soul of a now-dead moon of this world. The moon's 'Gaea'. They also told me of how Utoness would not grant them the son they wanted more than anything. I cursed her. She let everyone speak of her so highly when she knew she was only a sadist with too much power!
"A day later, they were dead, leaving 'me' to face this cruel, evil world on my own.
" 'I' became strong, just as the blind woman said 'i' would. 'I' took part in wars, even between nations to which 'i' had no allegiance, all in the pursuit of 'my' goal. To kill as many humans as i was able.
"Do you know how a god or goddess becomes so powerful, Sagus? It's the faith of their followers. It gives them strength. It also gives them ego and superiority complexes. Before a god can become a god, he or she must first be a lower order of being. When they have enough people who have faith in them, they can become gods. Utoness was a warrior from a village on another world before she ascended to her current status. She was also a politician, and a liar. A con-woman, really. She gathered enough faith, but she did it through deception and tricks, or with threats of **** if someone did not bow to her. Countless first-borns were killed because their parents would not bow to a known cheater and criminal. But, that's not important for our purposes, is it? What is important is that by killing those loyal to her, i could weaken her. Therefore, it follows that if she has no followers, she will die. That is my purpose; to kill Utoness.
"When Utoness realized 'my' ambition, she sent forth one of her angels to strike 'me' down. We met on a cold, fog-shrouded night for a one-on-one battle to the ****. Her angel bested 'my' weak human body, destroying it. Using one of her spells, she sent me, not to the void, but to hell. For one thousand years, my soul, the soul of a moon, burned and screamed in that place. Yes, even i screamed. But it was only to distract the demons there from my new plan. The watchman of hell had become lazy, and taking his Cerberus Blade was easy. I used it's powers to kill every demon in my path, including the watchman himself. With that demon dead, i took his place as the new demon-king of Tyren. And with that power comes new abilities. One of them is the ability to return to this world, while maintaining a demon's shadow-skin.
"Now, i am even more powerful than my former self could ever have been. I can achieve my goal and kill Utoness. But, there is still one problem. The angel who destroyed 'me', Stradi. He cannot kill me, but he can allow Utoness the time she needs to escape me. Lacking faith alone will not kill her, i must deliver the final blow. However, if she can escape she will likely re-gather followers and regain her powers, starting her cycle of lies and merciless **** anew. All because Stradi prevented me from doing what must be done. But, he cannot do so without his axe, the only weapon his hands can touch. If he doesn't have this axe, the Mucro lux Angelus, he cannot stand in my way. Therefore, you will bring me that axe, or i will give you and your companions the hell i felt and then some. So, when will you start your search, Sagus? When can i give back the woman you care so deeply for?"
Will Sagus even accept?
