Chapter 20

Will Sagus even accept?
Not yet...
standard narration style
Sagus watched Arakarin as he told the story, watching him for signs of lies. He showed none. But those signs were from the slight guilt one feels as they tell the lie. Arakarin didn't have that, Sagus knew.
"It sounds like i can only lose. Either way, everyone on Tyren dies. The only difference is by who's hand, your's our time's."
"Not exactly true, Sagus. I exaggerated when i said i would kill everyone on Tyren. I will kill only those who follow Utoness. The rest i will spare."
"You're going to kill everyone who worships Utoness!? You're no better than you say She is!"
"How so?"
"You said she used **** against those who wouldn't follow her. Now you use it on those who don't agree with you that She deserves to die. You're using the same tactic to achieve your goal!"
"...I suppose i am."
"So how can you tell me you deserve to get what you want but She deserves **** at your hands?"
"Because it's right. She has been abusing her power for far too long. It is the duty of a goddess to grant her loyal followers blessings. Why else would people need or want her? She has never granted anybody a thing except misery."
"Just like you! You attacked and destroyed my home, not to mention those of Sophie, Rebecca and millions of others! You're a monster, and no better than your enemy!"
"I did attack your homes. Yet are you all not alive? Among your friends, only one of you believes in Utoness. Your villages were filled with religious pigs. But you, your alchemist and your archer are atheists. Therefore, i had no quarrel with you, and let you live."
"You cursed me!"
"You tried to kill me. You're fortunate i did no more the curse your eyes to a state that was easily fixed."
"You are still the evil one here! If Stradi can keep you from killing Utoness, why should i stop him?"
"Because of the world's population, only about 1/4 of them follow Utoness. The rest do not, and i will not kill them. Stradi however will."
"What do you mean?"
"You have heard the legend that if Stradi and i face each other, the world will end, haven't you? It is true. But it will not be me who does it, nor the power released in the battle. Stradi was made a warrior angel because Utoness knew he was powerful and would kill for her without question. He had been doing so since she was mortal. But she later realized that once he began killing, he would be unable to stop for one hour. Killing a demon would make him unable to stop killing for three days. And killing a demon-king would simply make him unable to stop. It's his axe. That axe is a legendary weapon, which holds the soul of it's former owner, giving it powers. However, those powers can only be fully realized with the help of elements. I'm assuming the former owner was Verni, the warrior-alchemist. The elements, i have heard, must be added in an order, or the power will either not work or will possess it's wielder. Stradi must have performed this wrong, because it can possess him, if it tastes blood. The stronger the blood, the stronger the weapon's urge to kill. Your statement about everyone dying by my hand or by time was incorrect. Either i will kill the followers of the evil goddess or Stradi will kill everyone."
"Why don't you kill Stradi? If you don't have anything against most of the world, you can keep him from killing them, can't you?"
Arakarin chuckled without mirth. "The mages of reason spoke as you do. They too suggested i kill Stradi in order to preserve humans from his blood-lust. But you forget who i am. Just because i have no need to kill someone myself does not mean i will protect them. I AM a demon-king, and i have heard i am quite vicious even among them. Also, because i am unable. We cannot kill each other, only fight forever."
"Why can't you?"
"Your woman is rotting while you ask irrelevant questions. If you will not get the axe then leave. I prefer privacy when i fuck my slaves. If you will, say so and she will be your's again. But say now, because if you will not do it, i must plan how to do it myself. I'll give you one minute to decide."
Tick-tock, Sagus, tick-tock.
