Apples and Oranges

Yuri turned around the corner, wincing at the sight that fell before her. "Of course. Of course there is a street market today, and of course are the streets more crowded than ever." She took a deep breath, clamped her hands at the cardboard box, and stepped into the crowd.

"GET YOUR FRESH FISH HERE! GET IT- What in God's name-?"
"Hey dude, isn't she's kinda cute?"
"Lady, drop the box and and you'll get all the fish you'll want."

Yuri made an annoyed smile at the last guy, but that did made her think. She hadn't lunched yet, and she could go for anything right now. She wasn't drop-the-box-to-show-my-stuff ****, but she might get something out of pity if she just asked around. She walked over to a fruit stand, run by a bearded man in his fifties.

"Excuse me, sir. Could I have a an apple or something?"

Adjusting his glasses, he asked, "and how will you pay for it, because I don't think you have a wallet in that box."

"Please sir. I literally have nothing but this box, but I promise I'll pay you back next week." Yuri said with the biggest and fakest puppy dog eyes and a pouty lip, folding her hands together. It was a tried that often worked on her brother.

The salesman sighed. "One apple. Here!" He tossed the apple towards her.
Or at least, he tried to. Putting way to much **** in his throw, the apple was about to fly over Yuri. In a quick panic, she quickly jumped up in an attempt to catch the apple. She tried to grab the apple with both hands...

And missed by a quarter of an inch, causing it to fall in filthy puddle.

There were, of course, two things Yuri didn't account for;
One, her trying to grab the apple with both hand meant that she couldn't hold the box any more.
Two, her jump would make her naked body jiggle.

"Oh, wow. Just, wow." Spoke a twenty year old dude.
"Eh, not much to see." Said his friend nonchalantly.
"Oh, like you see anything."
"I totally do!"
"Porn doesn't count."

Meanwhile, Yuri landed with her ass on the edge of the box, tearing it a little around the corners. It was a tear for only around a quarter of the box, so it wouldn't be any problem.

For now.

Mortified, she pulled up the box and dashed away from the scene.

Slowing down a bit to catch her breath, she moaned. "That couldn't have gone worse."

"Miyahira? Miyahira Yuri?"

She quickly turned around, seeing a familiar face from high school behind an orange stand.

"Shoji Kohaku? You work here now?" She clung the box closer to her chest.

"Till my dad's better, yeah. But what's with your, erm, situation?"

"...So that's why I'm naked for the weekend."

"Can't say I'm surprised." Grinned Kohaku. "You never knew when to back down from a bet."

"I so do!" Yelled Yuri undignified! "It only gets a little **** with Yuki, that's all!"

"Sure, it gets a bit crazier when Murano is involved. But you always bet too much! Remember that bet in our sophomore year with the balloons, the helium, and those bottles in the chemistry lab?"

"They had to close that classroom and the two adjacent once for eight months..." Reminisced Yuri. "But it's not that bad anymore, I swear!"

"Is that the reason that you're standing here naked, because it's not that bad anymore?"

"Hey, it's-" Yuri was about to protest, when she heard her stomach growl. "Erm, can I get an orange for free? I'm starving."

"I'm sorry, but I really need the money for my dad."

"And what if we bet for it?" Spoke Yuri a bit too enthusiastically. "I'll sell a number of your oranges in a short time, and when I win I get a few oranges."

"You really don't know what the sunk-cost fallacy is, do you?" Kohaku spoke flatly.

"Bok, bok." Clucked Yuri.

"Seriously?"

"Bok, boook!"

"I'm not gonna-"

"BOK, BOOKKK!"

"FINE, YOU WANT TO BET SO MUCH?!" Yelled Kohaku, getting a few stares from onlookers. "Here's the deal; You try to sell the oranges I give you for double the price I ask for within the hour. If you win, you get all the oranges you can carry. But if you lose-"
"I won't lose."
"If you lose." Agitation could be heard in the repetition. "You'll have to help me sell my oranges for an hour, however I want..."

"Ha, bring it!" Yelled Yuri confidently. "How many do I have to sell?"

"One."

"One?" Yuri spoke in disbelief.

"This one in particular." She pulled up an orange from the ground. At least, it was supposed to be an orange. It was moldy and there seemed to be a large bite taken out of it. "I was about to throw this one out, but since you will be selling it for double the price..."
