Apologize

"Come on Larry, try to be a big boy." Vanessa chided as she pulled Lauren back up to her feet. Lauren couldn't answer, though her sobs were fading after her explosion of self pity. Vanessa swung her around to face the shop owner.

"Now Larry, apologize for stealing." Vanessa commanded.

"S... sorry..." Lauren sniveled, a total mess.

"It's fine, but if you want to grow up a be a real man, you have to take your punishment with some dignity." The shop keeper shook their head. "And don't steal anything again, or I'll tan your hide much worse than your sister did!"
