Welcome to yet another update post! It’s been over a month since the last one, we've just finished act 1, and life has… well, you know that saying “may you live in interesting times” that’s more of a threat than a hopeful comment? Yea.

I’ve had a bunch of time off over the summer holidays, so I’ve been able to concentrate a bit more on my writing as well as future plans, but also I’ve had to deal with a bereavement and a whoooole bunch of other family stuff that’s taken a lot out of me. This is important as far as the story goes, because it directly relates to my future plans - if you’ve read the end of act 1 post, you’ll know what I’m talking about. While I’ve kept up the daily posts (sometimes because focusing on writing this story has actually been really helpful for me mentally, believe it or not), I can’t really keep up the illusion that if everything quietens down I’ll be able to keep up the pace and build back out my buffer of unposted content, especially now I’m heading back to work. Thus, a reduction in posting to every other day - though there might be other stuff coming (e.g. interludes) with the reduced pace of the main story.

I’ve had a few people suggesting patreon and such since I started writing this story, and one of the reasons I’ve been hesitant to set one up is due to my concerns about being able to keep posting regularly enough to not make me feel like I’m taking people’s money and running with it, y’kno? I think I mentioned in the last one of these updates that I’d got a bunch of stuff planned and was hoping to get it done over the summer hols - well, the good news is that I’ve got a patreon currently pending approval; I’ll update this post as soon as it goes live. You’ll get snazzy discord access and not a lot else at the moment; I’m aiming to get a good buffer of chapters written and then allow those that want to pay a lil more to get stuff a week or so early as seems to be standard for such things.

Building up a buffer should also help in the event that work hits me round the back of the head with urgent paperwork, and mean that I can take a day or two off from writing if I get a bug without it impacting things from the reader’s point of view. There’s a couple of chapters I wrote while either ill or dealing with the bereavement that I look back on now as being subpar for the overall quality of the story - not that anyone reading noticed because I edited them pretty heavily before posting, but I noticed… On another note, a buffer and reduced posting rate *ALSO* means I can spend some time tinkering with a few other ideas I have as well as write some more interlude chapters without risking compromising the quality of the rest of the story.

With all that said, thank you all for continuing to read; in light of the current attempts by governments to block mature content (although none of them seem to have blocked a certain company named after a major river/rainforest, despite the *significant* amounts of smut present even if you don’t include the *ahem* family-time but definitely not family-friendly adventures within a popular series about a Game of Chairs…) along with the current payment processor shenanigans in the gaming industry, it matters that people engage with their preferred form of spiciness as a form of human expression - and I’m really happy that for a lot of you that seems to be my writing!

So, last time I wrote one of these I think I said we were getting to the point where the number of new girls dropped off - which ended up being true! With both Naera and Bleu joining the party, things calmed down a bit; while Sammie is definitely interested, everyone is still in wait-and-see mode there. Will there be more in act two? Yuuup - Dustin does still have a lot of space in that ambassadorial bedroom… The big question is how soon will Sammie make her way into the roster - and I wish I knew honestly. She was *supposed* to more or less jump straight in as the “pushy” contrast to Bleu’s “unsure of how to get involved / hesitant” and Naera’s “working her way in with inside help from Emely” in a set of three haremettes all actively working to get into Dustin’s bed. And then they all had to be reasonable about it when I was writing her and saying they were going to take their time. Honestly, I swear my characters troll me when I put fingers to keyboard sometimes…

Glad you liked it. I must admit though that the Yuran follow my long established trend of playing with stereotypes (see: The bunny girl that wasn’t interested in sex, the fox species being called feliax, the compassionate insect woman etc etc) in that it let me write cat girls into a harem story and have them be everything they’re normally not in stories of this type (brave, intelligent, loyal, non-sexual, and looking up to the hero) by making them into literal cat people.

Eeeeh, if it’d been a sexytime chapter I probably would have. I tend to reserve the obvious puns for those (see chef a la mode, bleu balled etc)

Comment to Hunting - Love the chapter. The only quibble I have is that water (liquids in general) aren’t compressible with normal physics. Could just be space Magic makes it work though :)

Well… damn, I didn’t actually know that. I tend to try really hard to make sure that while there’s a fair amount of handwavium my story also has at least some reasonable grounding or internal logic (magic enzyme in spit that works like super-viagra, anyone?) - for now, lets just assume that it works by using applied anti-grav tech to warp the space inside the bottle to allow the pressure to go above what’s technically possible otherwise ;)

If you make your reader laugh, cry or stare into the abyss, you’re doing something right as a writer. Personally, I prefer making people laugh :)

Heh, Dustin really, really does not have any idea just how many of his lovers are scouting for him. It’s just that Trea’k and Emely are a little more forward in their approach to the matter; Meli doesn’t want to rush him, Naera and Bleu are new and Rye is still somewhat working through her own issues.

See above regarding patreon/discord. WRT artwork - yes, although I’m of two minds. On the one hand, with a discord there’s the possibility of fan art which would be awesome. On the other, I’ve seen a couple of lewd artists recently (doing comms for friends and suchlike) who’s art is amazing and I’d love to commission. I *do* want a gallery of all the girls at least; Dustin I probably won’t ever get art made for because asides from him being human and male I want his appearance to be whatever the reader wants it to be; you can self-insert or you can picture him as generic-anime-isekai-mc, whatever works for you. The only actual descriptors I remember writing or implying are that he’s significantly taller than Naera, and moderately shorter than Trea’k, and that’s about it.

Comment to The doctor is in - Keep up the good work, but make sure you do not burn yourself out.

Advice noted at the time but mostly ignored as I was using writing to keep myself grounded during turbulant times. Now things are not so turbulant, advice being taken to avoid future issues!

Comment to A shower - Looks like we’re gonna have a lot of orgies from now on, which is cool, but I enjoy it way more when it’s just two people. It feels more intimate, more romantic, and it fills my tiny brain with dopamine. So I’m hoping we get more personal moments like we had in this chapter :)

I am aware there’s been a bunch of orgies, but one of the things I’m aiming for with lewds in act two is going to be a lot more intimate moments (date nights etc) and smaller group play; while it’s fun to write a multi-part, multi-partner scene like the massive welcome orgy recently, it does take a lot more time to plan out to make sure everyone gets to do something. Basically, expect more of both moving forward, the same as it has been already.

One of the things I’ve loved the most about writing this tale is the way Rye has developed as she’s become more relaxed; the fact that she’s gone from essentially a wallflower to the resident rope-bunny and it’s been *glorious* to write.

I did end up taking it in a slightly different route if you were expecting girl-in-guy oviposition; hopefully you still enjoyed it regardless. And if not, well, there’s always Bleu and her interesting abilities to read through.

I haven’t linked to them because they’re either not posted anywhere yet, or are posted but are linked to a handle that is much easier to connect to my day job. If/when that changes, trust me I’ll be talking about it ;) And thank you - guess the decade or so of doing nanowrimo (before that went to shit) really paid off :)
