Another text

I sat down with my plate full, apparently Sundays are brunch buffets. They had all sorts of food there being offered, pancakes, chicken, steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, toast, you get the idea. It was really nice to have, and it was free for students.

“Damn, would’ve been a lot happier if I knew this place had a buffet each Sunday.” I said, quickly grabbing a bite. Ivan nodded with his mouth currently busy as Gabi brought in a salad with a separate plate. Guess she takes care of herself. We sat there not talking as much, eating and chewing and humming as our hunger was getting satisfied. This was the stuff.

PING!

Oh, right.

“Text message?” Gabi asked with Ivan checking his phone and shaking his head. “Not mine, Alex?” I nod, “It’s mine. I got a few texts earlier and the phone does that if I don’t pick up in a few minutes as a reminder.” “Oh, well go ahead it’s rude to keep em waiting.” Gabi responded. I shrug and pull my phone out, three messages. One unknown and two from... oh.

It’s Andrea.

“Well, who’s it from?” Gabi asked with Ivan following in response. “Maybe it’s private, should we not ask?” “No it’s fine... kinda I guess, I don’t know.” I placed my phone down on the table as Gabi waited for more. “So yes, no, I don’t know? Getting mixed signals here, Alex.” “Yea, Sorry. It’s from uh, it’s from my sister.”

“Oh sister!” Both Gabi and Ivan repeated. “I didn’t know you had a sister!” Gabi followed up. “What’s wrong, is it good news?” “I haven’t read it yet.” “Oh, sorry I didn’t mean to pry I guess.” She looked down and took another bite of her salad with me shaking my head. “Let me just read it first, then I’ll share it with you guys.” “If you’re okay with it.” Ivan said. I nodded and held my phone up, reading what she sent before handing the phone to Ivan. He held the phone over towards Gabi so both could read the texts.

Fucker! Couldn’t let me dream about those nuns giving you a whooping, could ya? XD Yea Sam and I are still good, i’ll tell her you said hi. Gud to hear you made friends somehow, were they also loners? Lol tell me about em, and how’s it been over there now? Call me sometime, I wanna hear from ya you know?

“Awww, Alex has a sister that cares!” Gabi teased with me rolling my eyes. “You didn’t tell us about her before.” “You never asked.” She shot me a glare before Ivan broke the pause with a chuckle. “Is she younger or older?” “Younger.” “Tell us about her, we wanna know!” Ugh.
