Another chat with Blake

Outside, in the waiting room, Blake was sitting on an uncomfortable looking seat, staring blankly into a notebook, although Lexi couldn't see what was written on it.

As she approached he looked up, his eyes becoming focused on her and he frowned. 'You look worried, how is she?'

Lexi waved away his concern, 'The Doc says she gonna be fine, just gonna be a while 'till she wakes up' She cast around, searching for something to change the subject, 'Whatchya writing?'

Blake's frown only deepened and he sighed, 'This is just me trying to write a thesis for Post Biology. So far I've managed a whole zero words!' his words dripped sarcasm. He caught himself, trying to lighten the mood a bit, 'Still not that important given the current situation,' he smiled sympathetically at Lexi, realizing that it probably wasn't the best time to focus on his problems. Lexi however quickly changed the subject.

'Biology huh? I had you down more for some kinda physical thing,' She looked at him pointedly, a mischievous glint flickering in the backs of her eyes. 'I'm not one for the sciences, I used ta, but it got boring fast. I do Sport... volleyball, netball, field stuff y'know?'

'Well its not just Biology, I do Fitness too, although the Dean basically said that Fitness was effectively pointless to do Post, so I'm stuck with Biology if I want to stay here.' Blake stood up, walking with Lexi, 'I still have the whole year to do it so I'm not too worried.' His words where wholly unconvincing.

Lexi realised she touched on a sensitive issue, once again she cast around for a change of subject Anything not about her sister's situation. They walked in silence for a bit as she floundered, momentarily failing to find anything to talk about. 'Ummm…' She began to speak, hoping to prompt herself, 'I uh… I wanted to say thanks for helping my sister, she can get a little overwhelmed y'know. This whole things kinda new to her, I was worried, but she did say she was ready for it…' She tailed off, her thought hanging in the air. Suddenly she pulled something a little less heavy to focus on, 'Hey, if you're worried about Bio you could always asking Daria for some help, y'know she's a real genius when it comes to that.'

Blake gave a strained smile as they exited out of the main entrance, 'Sure', he wasn't that sure how much Daria would be able to help him, still it didn't hurt to humor Lexi.

For her part, Lexi didn't notice. As they stood at the gate, she faced Blake, 'Well, see ya around I guess,' She smirked at him, that sly look returning to her face, 'Unless you wanna join me? The offer I made earlier still stands.'

Blake let out an exasperated sigh, speaking through gritted teeth with a warning tone, 'Lexi!'

She laughed, 'Just teasing ya, but seriously, thanks… Bye!' As she jogged off, she looked back. Blake was watching her, becoming smaller as the distance between them grew, before she turned the corner and he disappeared out of sight.
