Another Lunch with Antoine
Antoine scowled a little bit, looking at Douglas across the table. This was his least favorite part of the bargain he'd struck so long ago. Douglas was flipping through pictures. Anniversaries in the Caribbean. The athletic and academic achievements of Aaron and Emily and Katie. God, Katie looked so much like her mother, it was uncanny. The pure, unmitigated joy on Elizabeth's face around Antoine. The seductive pictures of them in the bedroom, where she was satisfied as she'd never been before. Douglas sighed, taking the bedroom pictures with him, and looking at the schedule for these lunches. Jesus, why'd he stagger the next one out so far?
"That's right, white boy -- won't be seeing you until those kids you made are all over 18. Don't worry, I'm raising them well."
