Annake: 12. Vs Bandits: 1, 2, 3, 10, 10

It’s a close call. Annake steps wrong on a branch and hears it snap, but luckily one of the bandits tells a raucous joke and the other four laugh heartily, disguising the sound. She breathes a sigh of relief and continues on her way safely.

As the bandit camp falls into the distance behind her, Annake picks up the pace. Soon the sun is high overhead and she pauses to rummage in her pack for the last ration from the cache. She nibbles at it as she continues walking eastward toward home.
