Angelo's grief, life rerouted

(Author's note: I am modifying how the stats are displayed to make them easier to read. Base stats, items, then rank/ability ups.)

When Angelo reached for the door an odd notification over took his field of vision.

The owner of this illusion barrier: Dexter Fade has restricted your ability to exit or enter at will.

Angelo lifted a brow, but mentally hit, 'Yes' leading the to following notification.

To test your Strength modifier against his, you must try and **** the door open.

To test your Intellect modifier against his, you must channel mana through your hand while using the Exit Illusion barrier lvl 1 ability.

Each attempt will cost 10 Mp and requires you to be 1.5 times stronger in the chosen category.

Angelo sighed as he reached for the door, but try as he might, it wouldn't budge. - 10 Mp However, before he could lift his hand to try and use Exit Illusion barrier lvl 1, a familiar voice was heard coming from a door that had previously been closed near the one he had escaped from. Jasmine's naked, bound, and gagged body, was sent tumbling to the ground. Angelo rushed to her side and used the mental command, 'Equip Equipment Set Slots.' Changing his gear and stats from this.

This changed, what had been his Equipment Slots with his Equipment Set Slots. While Angelo cut away her bonds and removed the gag, a figure came out from the room she had been thrown out of. A chuckle was heard as the large, but young looking white man stepped out of the shadows. He was wearing a black muscle shirt, brown leather pants with matching boots. He had short spiky black hair, blue eyes, and was clean shaven. Angelo barely had a moment to see the twisted smile that was present on this man's lips when he spoke. "Well, well. I heard you were a strange one, Angelo Gallo. However, I've never seen anyone put on combat gear the way you just did. Do you have any other special gifts I should know about? Perhaps it'll be worth what you just cost me by letting those two escape." Angelo used Observe on this guy while helping Jasmine up and replied. "I look forward to kicking your teeth in."

Dexter chuckled and replied. "Good luck with that, boy." He didn't give Angelo a moment to help out Jasmine as he rushed at him. Angelo's arms wrapped around Jasmine's waist when he leaped back, bringing her with him. He leaned her against a wall without turning around and said. "I don't know what he did to you, but I'll take care of this guy. Don't you worry." Jasmine managed to whisper, "Kick his ass, love." before slumping to the floor. Angelo felt his anger building as Dexter rushing at him again.

Angelo turned his blades sideways, evading Dexter's strikes before striking with both of his blades, hitting him hard for 80 and 75 damage. 80 + 75 = 155 damage Dexter growled, but used his momentum to run up along the wall, turning around to try and kick Angelo's left cheek. Angelo barely blocked with his swords, but was still hit for 75 damage. 83 - 10% (8.3) = - 75 Hp (74.7) Angelo used Ignite and Icy grip at the same time, merging the effects into Water grip, dealing 20 damage instantly while restricting Dexter's movement for 20 seconds before dealing an additional 50 over 5 seconds. - 25 + - 25 = - 50 Mp, 20 + 5% (1) spell damage up = 21 damage, 10 + 5% spell damage up (.5) = 11 damage

Dexter tried to move from that spot, but found he was unable to. However, he could still strike at Angelo if he got close enough. Dexter grinned while starting to speak. "Cute, real cute. As soon as this runs out. You'll be in a world of hurt." The next 4 ticks went off dealing their damage. 10 + 5% (.5) = 11 x 4 = 44 damage Leaving 15 seconds on the movement restriction for Dexter. Angelo moved back before casting Shadow Waltz, reappearing behind Dexter, but he wasn't expecting Dexter to turn quickly, slamming his elbow into Angelo's chest, sending him back against a wall for 100 damage. - 75 Mp, 111 - 10% (11.1) = - 100 Hp

Angelo gripped his chest, grunting from pain as Dexter started to laugh. Dexter glanced back to him while saying. "Did you think I wouldn't know about that little trick of yours? Sure, it hurt watching you take out my pet Spindra, but her sacrifice won't be in vain." Angelo cast Ignite on Dexter, enveloping his body in flames for 5 seconds, dealing 50 damage over its duration. - 25 Mp, 10 + 5% spell damage up (.5) = 11 damage When Dexter eyes closed due to pain, Angelo pointed his swords downward and cast Shadow Waltz. - 75 Mp

This time Angelo appeared at Dexter's left side, striking with both blades, this attack qualified as a Sneak attack causing triple damage as another tick of Ignite ticked off. (79.8 + 20% (95.76)) = 96 x 3 = 288 damage, (74.55 + 20% (89.46)) = 89 x 3 = 267 damage, 288 + 267 = 555 damage, 10 + 5% spell damage up (.5) = 11 damage However, when he cast Shadow Waltz again and appeared in front of Dexter. - 75 Mp Dexter had regained his senses, striking Angelo with both of his fists for 90 damage, twice, sending Angelo down towards the ground and hitting his head for an additional 45 damage. 100 - 10% (10) = 90 x 2 = 180 damage, 50 - 10% (5) = 45 damage, 180 + 45 = - 225 Hp

Dexter brought both of his hands up and smashed them together after the last 3 ticks of Ignite went off, leaving 10 seconds of movement restriction on him, sending a shock wave of air at Angelo dealing 70 damage. 10 + 5% spell damage up (.5) = 11 x 3 = 33 damage, 77 - 10% = - 70 Hp Dexter chuckled although his mana sank down to 100, he said. "You certainly are resilient. I can't even tell if I hurt you." Angelo cast Faith's Renewal, restoring 80 Hp over 4 seconds. - 30 Mp, + 80 Hp However, once this effect was over it left only 6 seconds on Dexter's movement restriction.

Dexter's eyes widened when he saw something coming from the shadows. Spindra had finally arrived, making its way out of the room it had been in earlier. Angelo looked to where Dexter had been looking, noticing Spindra and thought. 'It wasn't supposed to have made it out of its chrysalis so soon, was it?' Water grip's movement restriction released, allowing Dexter to rush over, picking her up with his hand, but noticed something was wrong. He looked her over, noticing Spindra was moving strangely. "What's wrong, baby? Do you need something to eat?" Dexter chuckled before looking to Angelo and stepped on Angelo's chest, dealing 45 damage and said. 50 - 10% = - 45 Hp "Well, its your lucky day. Spindra will finish you off. It's not ever..."

Dexter stopped mid sentence and dropped Spindra then started to rub his hand before saying. "Y-you bit me. Why?" However, Dexter stepped back twice and stumbled as his whole body grew pale and his health and mana bar dropped to zero. Dexter fell to his knees before landing face first on the floor. He was dead and so was Spindra. Angelo recieved 2,200 xp, $150,000 and a book, Taming the Whirlwind. 2,000 xp + 10% (200 xp), $150,000, and Taming the Whirlwind. Angelo looked over to Spindra and wondered. 'Was this the price of the curse Lavina had put on it?' Angelo quivered before thinking. 'I definitely don't want to be on her bad side.'

Taming the Whirlwind: When learned will teach the following skill.

Wind Slash lvl 1 - Range 30 yd

Cost: 150 Mp per strike

Deals 10 damage + 50% of your Strength, Intellect, and Agility.

This strike is invisible, but can be easily avoided if the enemy is paying full attention to you.

Angelo brushed himself off before walking over to Jasmine who had passed out. He sighed and kissed her cheek and said. "I really need to invest in a security system or something." He looked over her body and although he was enjoying the view. This wasn't exactly a great way to walk back into the public eye. He moved to undress Dexter's corpse before slipping them onto Jasmine's form. Once she was clothed, he lifted her up into his arms. While walking toward the door, he started to think of what to do first after leaving this illusion barrier. Should he head straight to his apartment and finish his quest? Or should he make sure that Jasmine got home first before heading to his apartment?
